Transcript: Terry on the Mets loss tonight to Houston

After tonight’s 4-3 loss to the Astros, Terry Collins talked to reporters and had the following to say about:

The bullpen:

“Our bullpen is a little worn out from the last three days … The game was tied. If we had the lead, Jon Rauch would have been in the game.”

RA Dickey, who let up 3 runs in 6 innings:

“Well, he was outstanding. He’s really frustrated about the home runs. That’s usually not his thing. Obviously he threw the ball very well. He gave us a chance and kept us in there. We just gave him nothing to work with early.”

The team coming back to tie the game, after being down 3-0:

“I think when R.A was pitching so well, when they got the hits, it woke us up a little bit. We were there and we were there in the end.”

Come from behind wins this season:

“That just tells you to keep fighting. We talked about it in spring training. You play however many outs it takes to complete the game, you play them all hard. Our guys do that…We hung in there tonight. They got a big hit and we didn’t.”

His thoughts on the first month of the season:

“I’m very pleased with the first month of the season. What we’ve gone through so far, we’ve had some of our key guys banged up. We’ve had a couple of our guys that we expected to really swing the bats force habits, and in the meantime some guys that picked up the load and carried us. We are sitting here right now going in the month of May in pretty good shape.”
