Tonight's pitching matchups in Atlanta (Gee/Hanson)

Dillon Gee (0-1, 5.06 ERA) will start for the Mets. Gee had an uneven performance in his season debut against Washington last week, allowing three earned runs over 5 1/3 innings.

Gee is making his eighth career start against the Braves tonight, and he’s 2-2 with a 3.46 ERA in 39 innings against them.

Tommy Hanson (1-1, 2.70 ERA) will start for the Braves. Hanson had a successful albeit inefficient outing in his last start against the Astros when he allowed two runs in five innings for the win. Hanson started against the Mets on Opening Day and allowed a run in five innings while taking a loss, and in his career against New York, and he’s 3-4 with a 3.48 ERA against them.

Michael Baron: Consistency is the key for Gee tonight, but not so much in his ability to throw strikes and limit walks as it is for him to stick with what makes him successful: offsetting his low 90s fastball with his fantastic change-up and hard moving slider. So long as he does that and doesn’t become a one-pitch pitcher like he did in the early part of his first start, he should be able to provide the Mets with some length tonight.
