In a report for the Boston Globe, Nick Cafardo says teams are calling the Mets to see if they would be interested in dealing Bobby Parnell.
In 13 games so far this season, Parnell has pitched to a 2.84 ERA and has allowed just one walk while striking out 16 in 12 2/3 innings.
Michael Baron: If Parnell were dealt, it would create a significant hole in a bullpen which has already struggled this season. Parnell has been so impressive this season and, as was the case in yesterday’s game, he is slowly earning a greater role in the bullpen as he continues to evolve into a reliable power arm in the bullpen. If he had been successful in the closer’s role last summer, it’s very possible he would be the closer today and Frank Francisco might be somewhere else. With that said, I could see him getting save opportunities should Francisco continue to struggle, which would be a testament to how far he has come since last year.
