Ruben Tejada is OK, wanted to play on Tuesday
Terry Collins said Ruben Tejada has some swelling in his leg, but made himself available to play today, according to MetsBlog’s Meredith Perri.
Tejada was spiked in his shin on a play at second base in the 10th inning of Monday’s 8-2 loss to the Nationals. He did not require stitches in his leg.
Tejada told Mike Mazzeo of ESPN New York it was Collins’ decision to rest him tonight.
Tejada is hitting .318 with a .362 OBP, 14 doubles and 16 RBI in 211 at-bats this season.
