Dickey’s streak of 14 consecutive quality starts is the longest such streak in the Major Leagues. His streak began on July 25, 2011, and he led the team with 22 quality starts last season.
Michael Baron: Dickey has a dazzling knuckleball and can vary the speed on it so well. While that’s important, his greatest asset is his pitching intelligence and his ability to “gather information” as he has put it so many times since he joined the club. He appears to recognize what hitters are trying to do against him in-game and pitches against that in every sequence, adjusting to their adjustments as they happen. So long as he can continue to do that, he should continue to enjoy the success he has found as a member of this team.
