R.A. Dickey is the National League's Pitcher of the Month
Major League Baseball has announced that R.A. Dickey is the National League’s Pitcher of the Month for June.
Dickey went 5-0 with a 0.93 ERA in 48 1/3 innings over six starts during June. He allowed six runs, five earned on 21 hits with eight walks and 55 strikeouts.
Dickey leads the Major Leagues with 12 wins, a .923 winning percentage, and a 0.885 WHIP. He leads the National League with three complete games and is tied for the National League lead along with Johan Santana and Matt Cain with two shutouts.

No pitcher in New York has generated this kind of buzz or been so popular since Dwight Gooden between 1984 – 1986. It’s almost disappointing when Dickey gives up a run at this point, which is a completely unfair standard to hold for him. He is dominant, entertaining, and fascinating all rolled together. That, along with his story make him the clear choice to start next Tuesday’s All-Star Game, and I really hope Tony La Russa and the coaching staff give him the honor.
