6:39 pm: As for who that position player might be who will head to Buffalo, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York says it could be one of Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Lucas Duda.
According to Rubin, a team official said a determination has not been made as of yet, but whoever goes to Buffalo should not consider it as a demotion – rather, it should be viewed as an opportunity to get back on track.
Nieuwenhuis has just nine at-bats since July 17, and is 2-for-9 over that span.
Duda has six hits in 43 at-bats with 16 strikeouts in the month of July.
