Klapisch: Mets will send Lucas Duda to Triple-A tomorrow

According to WFUV’s Steve Simineri, Sandy Alderson told reporters the Mets will send a position player to Triple-A Buffalo when they add Matt Harvey to the roster tomorrow.

8:14 pm: Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record says Lucas Duda will be sent to Triple-A to make room for Matt Harvey.

6:39 pm: As for who that position player might be who will head to Buffalo, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York says it could be one of Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Lucas Duda.

According to Rubin, a team official said a determination has not been made as of yet, but whoever goes to Buffalo should not consider it as a demotion – rather, it should be viewed as an opportunity to get back on track.

Nieuwenhuis has just nine at-bats since July 17, and is 2-for-9 over that span.

Duda has six hits in 43 at-bats with 16 strikeouts in the month of July.

Brian Erni: Duda has struggled so mightily in the past month and a half that sending him down is probably a good idea. He’s been missing pitches to hit pretty consistently, and it’s disconcerting. Once he gets back into a strong approach, I think he’ll be fine. But right now, he seems a bit apprehensive, and it’s hurting the line up.
