In a report for CBS Sports, Jon Heyman says the Mets find Brewers RHP Francisco Rodriguez and Padres closer Huston Street to be “too pricey.”
According to Heyman, the Brewers are unwilling to pick up any of the remaining $4 million owed to Rodriguez.
Street is in the final year of a three-year, $22.5 million contract he signed with the A’s in January, 2010. He holds a $9 million option for 2013, but the Padres can decline that option and pay him $500,000 to become a free agent.
Meanwhile, Heyman says other relievers who might be traded this month include Brandon Lyon, Jonathan Broxton, Brett Myers, and Rafael Betancourt.
In addtion, Heyman says the Mets are seeking a catcher, although they’ve indicated they are unwilling to pay the $3.2 million owed to Ramon Hernandez through next season.
