Latest from PSL: The Kid 8 patch is on arms today

11:07 am: Justin Turner is taking defensive reps exclusively at first base today.

Brian Erni: I know Turner doesn’t seem like the ideal back up first baseman, especially with Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda both on the roster. But I think the Mets want Murph and Duda to focus on getting adjusted to their new positions without hindering whatever development they may have there by dangling that safety net of first base. Although, overall, this is probably more about increasing Turner’s versatility. If Turner is going to be a part of the bench, they’re going to need to find him at bats somewhere to keep his swing sharp, thus I think the reason his efforts are focused on first today.

11:03 am: According to The Star-Ledger’s Andy McCullough, Wilmer Flores is taking ground balls at shortstop today, a day after consecutive mornings of working out at third base.

10:48 am: Team is focusing on run down drills today, with Terry Collins in the mix as a runner who has gotten hung up between third and the plate.

9:50 am: The Gary Carter memorial patch has been placed on the right side of the Mets’ blue Spring Training/Batting Practice jersey.
