Chris Young not set to appear in minors game, yet

Chris Young threw a 75-pitch simulated game in Port St. Lucie on Monday, but will not appear in a minor league rehabilitation game this weekend, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.

Rubin says the team does not want to rush Young despite an immediate need in their rotation, although they have acknowledged that other than Chris Schwinden there are no other short-term alternatives to fill Mike Pelfrey’s spot in the rotation.

Young underwent surgery to repair a torn capsule in his right shoulder last May.

Michael Baron: The news on Young sounds encouraging, but he really needs a full Spring Training schedule to build up his pitch count and game strength. And for pitchers who don’t have shoulder problems, that takes about a month. Like with Johan Santana, each start needs to be closely monitored as well as how he responds afterwards.

@KingLundqvist30 @44magpunk @SNYRangers haha god help any Ranger who seeks leadership from Ryan Malone...he's a potentially good value due to his coke/legal issues...he's NOT leadership material whatsoever, the guy is lucky to still be sniffed (no pun intended) by NHL clubs

It's still a good value pickup if he can outperform some others just based on expeirence

@44magpunk @SNYRangers Every time fans dismiss a player who has fallen on tough times, that player has comeback to become productive in some capacity, and at times, garnered bigger deals. I love how rangers fans talk about class but they are quick to judge someone especially when that player hasn't even participated in a single training camp practice. Then when that player produces they are fast to jump on the bandwagon.
