Cafardo: Mets had 27th best off-season
In his weekly column for the Boston Globe, Nick Cafardo ranks the Mets as having the 27th best off-season this winter:

Cafardo ranks the Mets ahead of only the Padres, A’s and Astros.

They are also hoping a deeper bullpen can help to shorten the game and put less pressure on the starting rotation, considering the question marks surrounding four of the Mets five starters. The problem is, as has been proven with so many other teams in the past, the dependability of a bullpen largely depends on the dependability of a starting rotation, not the other way around. If Terry Collins cannot get consistent and quality length from their starting rotation, he will obviously have to turn to his bullpen more frequently in the early part of games, and that will definitely take it’s toll on the bullpen regardless of who’s down there.
