Zach Lutz will have wrist surgery on Monday

The Mets announced Zach Lutz will have surgery on the hamate bone in his left wrist.

Lutz’s surgery will be performed by Mets Hand Specialist Dr. Andrew Weiland at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

Lutz broke his hamate bone while with Triple-A Buffalo and missed 49 games while on the disabled list earlier this season.

Lutz was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo when rosters expanded at the beginning of September. In seven games for the Mets this season, Lutz went 1-for-11 with five strikeouts.

Lutz hit .295 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI in 254 at-bats over 78 games between Single-A St. Lucie and Triple-A Buffalo this season.
