Wright third among NL third baseman for ASG

David Wright is third among National League shortstops for the 2014 All-Star Game.

Wright has 278,840 votes, trailing Nolan Arenado (318,111) and Aramis Ramirez (282,843).

No other Mets are among the top five at their position, or top 15 in the outfield.

Some players on the team are better than others but honestly, NOT ONE deserves to be on the All Star team.  After the way this team has been performing we should be making a statement and not voting for any of them.  Wright's head gets bigger and bigger every year.

I don't know how David Wright got so many votes.   He strikes out, grounds out and flies out constantly.  He's not a homerun hitter and so "unclutch" it's freakin ridiculous.  The media and ownership make him out to be a walking god.  I hope they don't put him in the homerun derby like last year because he'll only embarrass himself.   I will say he's a great role model and has a squeaky clean image but that's no reason to vote him as an All Star...it demeans the title.  When we have guys on base and Lagares or Eric Young step up to the plate I feel confident that something will happen.  When Wright steps up to the plate in that situation I say "here comes a wasted out."

If the voting was up to the managers and coaches, DW wouldn't even be on the team. His "un-clutchness" is depressing.

Wow, must have a shortage of quality shortlstops because I could've sworn David played 3rd...

I said it so many times, DONT GET RID OF ANGEL PAGAN. They shoot themselves in the foot all the time. What other team is notorious for doing this so regularly? I can think of, um, um, NONE!

The Mets really need to investigate what they can net in a trade for DW.  In the right lineup and park, he'd be his old self and he has a reasonable contract.

David Wright is so good he's going to make the All-Star Team at a position he doesn't even play! There's a Chuck Norris joke in there somewhere... Let's Go Mets!

Wow who would've ever guessed the Mets would have a shot to have the starting SS for the NL in the ASG!

How is Murphy not at least 3rd for 2nd base? I mean Utley and Walker have been good, but who else is honestly better than Murphy in the NL? I cant think of anyone. Wright is understandable, Arenado has been great for the Rockies. Lagares should be in the top 10, but he has had such inconsistent playing time.

Where's the votes for Murph? #2 in the NL for hits.. What 5 2b players in the NL are better than him?

Mr Not Clutch in the ASG? Please.

David deserves an AS spot. Not to sure how he will handle SS though. Lol.

Wright and Murphy rank 1 an 2 in NL in hits. Lagares at .300. Why does the team stink? Because today's 3 and 4 hitters are batting .208 and .200 respectively (even lower now as we speak). Classic Murphyesque base-running. Guy makes Ruben Rivera look like Ricky Henderson.

Glad Wright is such a highly rated shortstop.

Murphy should be up there for second basemen. As always he will be overlooked

Did Jeff Wilpon demand Wright be listed as a SS?

If so, he will deny it and say Sandy did it.

When the season's over, all you have left are exhibition games.

At this point, NO Met deserves to be on the All-Star team

We should play him at short shouldn't we

@Victor Triguero I don't think he belongs ahead of McCutchen, Gomez, Pagan, Pollack, Stanton, Puig, Braun, Upton, Seth Smith, and Morse.

@Tom Gallagher Over Utley?  Sorry, neither as a 2B or a DH.  Heck, I'd even argue he's behind Neil Walker too.

@Dana Smith @Dyl Ofthefuture I guess Mets fans are so disenfranchised that they're not even putting out the  votes.  Utley has name recognition and the numbers, Walker has the power, but Murph has been consistently productive at the plate.  It's a shame that he's not at least in the top 5.

Umm no, no, no, no, no, no, no, yes, yes, no. You think he's ahead of Puig?!? Come on man the guy is the best outfielder in the majors right now. At least try and sound a little bit intelligent

Nick Squatrito

So Murphy isn't better than Walker but in your book Lagares is better than Puig? Whatever you say p8erbaghad, whatever you say..

Tom Gallagher
Tom Gallagher

I stand corrected. I hadn't looked at the rest of the field and assumed, given the season he's been having, that he's up there. I'd actually put him behind Dee Gordon, Walker, and Utley.

Murphy leads the nl in hits.. He should at least be in the top 5

Nick Squatrito

He's not wrong. None of them do. Wright sure as hell hasn't earned a spot. The only guy I'd say deserves one is Murph but there's too much competition at 2nd. I would have also given Gee a spot but the injury has derailed his season so far

Dyl Ofthefuture

@Tom Gallagher Definitely would put Murph ahead of Dee Gordon, he has equal runs, 2 more homeruns and 8 more RBIs and batting .50 points above Dee.  Stolen bases don't matter if they're not equating to more runs.
