David Wright stretches his back out

Wright losing ground in ASG vote

David Wright is in second place for National League third baseman voting for the All-Star Game, trailing Milwaukee’s Aramis Ramirez.

Wright has 1,555,717 votes to Ramirez’s 1,790,777, according to results released Tuesday by Major League Baseball.

Last week, Wright trailed Ramirez by just 20,000 votes.

Wright is currently away from the team due to a bruised rotator cuff. Terry Collins said he expects Wright to rejoin the team on Friday.

David Wright 2014 is not an All Star.

Wright doesn't deserve to make the All Star team this year.   Murphy deserves to go and if the decision is up to the Mets organization they should do the right thing and send him.

After me, 30 people commented on this. Bud wanted to level the playing field and allow NYC to suffer a half blackout, so now the result is many people in NYC don't care about the all star game anymore.

He's not playing like an All Star. He shouldn't make it at all.

Wright should leave this crappy team he deserves better.  Mets suck

Again I'm a huge Wright fan, but he isn't having an All Star year.

Could this be a possible reason why he wasn't put on the DL? That is very lame if the FO even discussed this

Why does the all-star game even still exist? Very few people watch it, and the fan vote is nothing more than a popularity contest. You got teams now telling fans to vote for certain players who probably don't deserve it and fans stuffing the ballot box with online votes. They should have an all star team made out at the end of the season where the fans who actually go and pay to see the games can vote and not play any game. With today's media coverage you see any player you want on any given night so to me there is no point to the game any more. Wright is not an All-Star this year and voting him in will not make him nor the Mets any better, so it's a wast of time

He's a good guy, great face for the franchise, but he is not an all-star this year.

He isn't the All-Star ... wish he was ... but he's not ... he's our Captain, but this isn't a popularity contest, despite all those who make it so ...

Tell me again why we're discussing him playing in a meaningless exhibition game, when he's not well enough to play regular season games?

Wright has not had anything close to an average career year. The last few years have seen him become both more brittle and prone to LONG droughts at the plate. Maybe it ain't the years, just the mileage. David is getting to a point in his career where he might need a little more rest. His past four managers have played him virtually every day. And has anyone noticed his throwing issues? Not unrelated to rotator problems.

Like it or not every team has to be represented. Wouldn't it be something if Matheny picked Wright knowing he probably couldn't play much if at all because of his shoulder just so the loser Mets wouldn't have anyone actually play! Wow, now that would be something. He could still pick Frazier too so no harm to the line-up.

I love DW but, he's not an AS this year, as far as position players only Murph is deserving...

who cares?  this joke of an organization doesn't deserve an all-star.

@qualcomm Or maybe Wright doesn't deserve to be an All-Star this year?  On top of being injured right now, it's not like he's having one of his better seasons.  In fact, he's having one of his worst.  He's still my favorite player on the Mets, and possibly my favorite Met ever, but that doesn't mean I have to ignore reality.

@Kyle Turck The team should just spend 10K in Odesk and get Chris Young to start in right.

He has always had throwing issues. In fact he usually has more throwing errors than fielding. Didn't notice it as much when Delgado/Davis were at first but they were there.

I do agree that he and Terry/Sandy need to talk about proper rest. McCutchen rested on Sunday because Pirates had off day Monday. Need to be smart about it. Trouble is no one feels they can go a day without one of the two or three ML players they have. Short sighted approach to cornerstone player who is 31 and signed for 6 more years.
