Wright and Murphy getting ready for game action

David Wright and Daniel Murphy will play in an intrasquad game at Tradition Field on Thursday around 11 a.m.

Bartolo Colon, Jon Niese and Bobby Parnell are expected to pitch (ESPN NY, Mar. 4).

Terry Collins has said he plans to get Wright and Murphy in to their first Grapefruit League later this week.

I like the team’s approach to Wright and Murphy. The plan, as I understood it, was to let them ease back a bit during the middle of camp, to help minimize the type of oblique injuries that plagued them and others last spring. Remember, these guys have been in camp working since about three weeks ago, if not longer, and there are now three weeks or so until the regular season begins. Today’s intrasquad game indicates they’re getting ready to ramp up activity, which makes sense. I bet we see both in the starting lineup for the first time on Friday at home.

With the Mets' luck this probably just means the oblique injuries will happen later in spring and thus greater effect the regular season.

Yeah, no sense in over doing it when they don't count. Be ready for opening day. We have 90 wins to get!  LGM!

The intrasquad is tomorrow, no? They have two split-squad games today and an intrasquad?

I have no problem with this approach. Wright was overworked last Spring with the baseball classic and all, and Murph is a hard worker. We need them in April more than we do in March. They'll be fine.

Good, now lets get those Nick Franklin rumors started again.

Though it has not been explicitly stated, it has been implicitly suggested: Wright AND Murphy are both core players. Therefore, we gotta take care of them for they are the two stable offensive forces of this up-to-this-point offensively challenged team. LGM!
