Matt Kemp flies out

Why is there no talk of Matt Kemp?

The Dodgers do expect to trade OF Matt Kemp before Thursday’s 4 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline, their GM said (LA Times, July 31).

“No one’s ever heard me say we’re shopping Kemp,” he said. “That’s all in another world.”

Kemp, 28, who is batting .288 with 11 HR, has four years and $107 million remaining on his current contract.

miniMCavatarMatthew Cerrone: The Dodgers want to win now. They’ve invested A LOT of money in this run, so they want a tested pitcher back if they were ever going to move Kemp. They were open to paying a good portion of his remaining $100 million contract and giving up a top prospect with him to get the front-line pitcher needed to be put them over the top this October (Nightengale, July 29). The Mets don’t have that pitcher to give. That said, if Kemp doesn’t get moved this today (or through waivers in August), I bet the Dodgers consider a different type of deal for him this winter.

last year it was ethier, this year it's Tulo and Kemp

every year it seems baseball media try to stick the mets with walking hospitals to keep the team in last place for years to come

Everyone wanted to know why the LA Dodge wanted to get ride of Matt Kemp and what kind of medical secret that they are hiding. It appear that the Mets have only get bad deal every time that they get a new player.

Amazed that other teams aren't trading their top prospects to the Mets because I'm a Mets fan

Amazed that the Mets are not going hard after the Cubs Javier Baez-a shortstop with power that's cheap!!!!!!! WTF????

Matt is simply making up conversations now. The Mets do nothing so he writes about the Dodgers on Metsblog? Coming up next- Why the Royals haven't traded for a backup bat boy...on;y on Metsblog!

Can someone please explain to me how Sandy Alderson earns money?  Take today (and recent days) for example.  What exactly does he do to earn a paycheck?  Nothing???

Where do I sign up for this????

May want to proofread the first sentence here.  They don't expect to trade a $100M player in the next hour.

One hour to go and we've done absolutely nothing; can someone tell me what Sandy Alderson has been doing all day?

Stop posting today. You're giving us all a false hope. We're not doing anything today.

So DO they expect to or DON'T they?  I'm so tired of having to decipher the posts here.  Get an F-ing editor.

Smiley and Franklin to Tampa.  Jackson to Seattle

@Christopher Masiello  Seriously.  Run.  Fast.  In the other direction.  Kemp can't field, can't run, and is being paid like an MVP, not an average-at-best player.

@Joseph Grillo Trading a prospect like Baez at the trade deadline is what teams fighting for a playoff spot do. The Cubs are not fighting for a playoff spot. Therefor selling off a top prospect in July is never going to happen

@Joseph Grillo You realize the Cubs don't have to trade away their cheap shortstop with power just because you want him?

@Father Dooley You do understand you can still make trades after the trade deadline correct? Who that has been traded would you have liked us to get? Asdrubal? Rental player hitting 250 who a team semi in the hunt is willing to get rid of because they have soured on him. Only thing I can think of is Cespesdes, but that was the perfect deal for both teams and I dont think he would be traded for anything that didnt fit a lester type player and contract situation

@Father Dooley  I propose that you are not allowed to root for Travis d'Arnaud, Zack Wheeler, Vic Black, Dilson Herrera, Brandon Nimmo, Noah Syndergaard, or Michael Conforto.  Because if you think Sandy hasn't earned every dime of his paycheck, you should be following another team.

@Father Dooley He's transformed their farm system into one of the top 5 in the league (according to experts) and kept the Major league payroll down in a rebuilding phase with an eye on 2015 as the year the Mets contend.  He's done exactly what ownership wanted him to do.  That's how he earns his money.  I'm surprised too that he didn't make a trade for the sake of making one to please a priest that has no idea what the market is warranting at this time.

@Father Dooley we've won 2/3 of the last 15 games

last year it was the same thing until WRight and Harvey got hurt. we keep this up and we are looking at winning close to 90 games this year

@baldy It's sad that this is the best SNY can do...

@citifield @Father Dooley The reason he sucks is two-fold:

A. The Wilpons give him NO money at all. He has to get every single move perfectly right to have any chance.

B. He gets a lot of moves WRONG

If he had unlimited financial resources, he might be able to take more shots and eat the bad contracts on his misses.

Still, he's not nearly as smart as he pretends.

Sylvan Migdal

@Joseph Grillo @Sylvan Migdal I agree, that sounds like a win-win. But this is real life, you can't force an opposing GM to deal his 21 year old shortstop who hit 37 bombs last year, just because you think you have a fair price.

Alen Teplitsky
Alen Teplitsky

@ponzies86 @Alen Teplitsky you can extend murphy for $10 million a year and hire another FA for $15 million a year in the offseason. better than having only one injury prone player being paid $25 million

ponzies86
ponzies86

@Alen Teplitsky @ponzies86 and live with boneheaded plays at 2nd for th rest of his new contract.. no way. Murphy just doesn't cut it on this team and for all the hitting he does the guy is still hitting below 300 under 10 HR and what he hasn't sniffed 50 RBI's yet

Alen Teplitsky
Alen Teplitsky

@ponzies86 @Alen Teplitsky you can't get an RBI if the rest of the team doesn't get on base.

kind of like Brent Gardner hit 4 solo HR's against the Rangers in the last few days as the yanks lost the series

@ponzies86 @Alen Teplitsky 7 of murphs 8 homers are with runners on, his ops with runner in scoring position is .875 also he has scored 62 runs so far this year. for someone to get rbis you have to get into scoring position and that is what he does.

Alen Teplitsky
Alen Teplitsky

@ponzies86 @Alen Teplitsky personally, after years of watching baseball i think its a roll of the dice

some games you score run after run after run. other games you get guys on base every inning but can't score if your life depended on it.

only thing you can do is play the numbers, develop your players and hope they hit at the right times
