This past summer, the Mets drafted switch-hitting OF Jared King in the fifth round.
In 63 games with Single-A Brooklyn, King hit .266 with 15 doubles, a home run and a .365 OBP.

The Mets were pretty pumped to get King where they did, I’ve heard them say. I don’t think they expected him to drop and be available. In the days after the draft, Chris Crawford from ESPN’s MLB Draft blog told me King has the potential to be one of the surprise picks in the draft.
However, “If he’s going to profile in a corner, at some point, he will have to start putting the ball over the wall,” Mets Minor League Blog’s Toby Hyde, who believes King will start 2014 in left field for Low-A Savannah.
