Who is Mets LHP Jack Leathersich?

Mets LHP prospect Jack Leathersich has has struck out 45 batters in 25 innings, with a 2.25 ERA, in 19 relief appearances this season for Double-A Binghamton…

SNY.TV’s Rob Brender: You have the physical build and repertoire similar to Billy Wagner. Is he someone you looked up to as a kid and did you mold your game after his?

Jack Leathersich: That’s exactly who I looked up to when I was growing up. I loved the way that he carried himself. You could tell in his eyes when he was pitching that he didn’t fear anybody. He would go right at you. I feel that’s how I pitch >> Read more of Brender’s Q&A with Leathersich.

Cubs won again - How can we make them winners and not ourselves?

Leave this kid alone.  He's nothing special.  Don't use him to run interference for the worst owners in baseball.  He's not a sacrificial lamb.

Jack got wacked then sacked in spring training.

I'm sure we will see him later in the season if there is an injury or the sept call-ups.

Wish we could snag Matt Adams or Allen Craig from the cards

Who cares. This team is about 20 players away from becoming competitive.

Who is Lethersich?  He Is a pitcher in AA ball who's lights out...bring him up and the hitters around the National League will teach him that you just can't get by with an overpowering fastball here in the Majors..he floundered in AAA so why make a big deal now that he has been demoted and looking good?

Look, another Savior! Start screaming for him now because he'll be the difference. The same way the people on here screamed for Montero and Granderson and d'Arnaud. The same way firing Hudgens was going to make all the difference. But this guy is the real thing. Just watch.

The Mets promote their minor leaguers more than their major leaguers. And that, my friends, tells you all you need to know about the major league club. They keep selling us on tomorrow because today is terrible.

Tejada is hitting. And getting on base.

We'd most likely get the same production at the plate as we're getting from Duda at this point, and defensively, he'd likely give us less than Duda.

@theglider Thos organization is rotten from the head down if we want to change it we need to start protesting outside of Citi give the Wilponsa PR blackeye and force Bud's replacement to act

Let's see, den Dekker is leading off so that's wrong. Tejada is hitting .424 over his last ten games and had two hits last might so, if he starts, that's why. And whe Flores is 22, Tejada is all of 24 and, unlike Flores, has actually hit in the majors.

Actually he has 6 RBIs, not 4. And 5 runs scored. That's in ten games.

He shouldn't be leading off. But he had back to back .280+ seasons with a bad year last year. And he's been playing shortstop. Flores is relearning the position. I prefer a shortstop who knows the position.
