The Mets acquired 20-year-old 2B Dilson Herrera with pitcher Vic Black from the Pirates last summer, in a deal that sent John Buck and Marlon Byrd to Pittsburgh.
“He just goes for it. He’s strong mentally. He’s a very mature kid and he’s a gamer,” Single-A hitting coach Joel Fuentes told SNY’s Toby Hyde. “When you have a kid who plays hard, and knows his game so well, he’s not going to have a problem. He’s a package.”
Herrera was recently promoted to Double-A Binghamton, where he already has eight hits in 26 at bats >> Read more about Herrera at SNY’s Mets Minors.
