What’s on tap Saturday, Aug. 9

The Mets continue their four-game series against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday at 7:05 pm ET.

Dillon Gee (4-4, 3.73 ERA) will start against LHP Cole Hamels (6-6, 2.42).

Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores are also expected to be in the starting lineup.

In case you missed it…

Chris Young was designated for assignment after Friday’s game.

Matt den Dekker, who leads the Pacific Coast League with a .334 average, will be promoted and take Young’s place on the roster.

Bartolo Colon won his 200th game, despite his bullpen giving up four runs, as the Mets beat the Phillies, 5-4, on Friday.

Prior to Friday’s game, Terry Collins said he and Sandy Alderson agree it is time to start giving more playing time to Wilmer Flores and Kirk Nieuwenhuis, in an effort to gauge what they’re capable of next season.

Jeremy Hefner will have his sore right forearm examined by team doctors in New York. He first experienced the issue during Wednesday’s minor-league start with Single-A St. Lucie.

Who's up for sitting Wright the rest of the season? Hey if they are giving up already might as well give someone like Campbell a shot. Someone who wants a chance.

It is a sad thing to see this team's manager and GM give up on this years when they still have SEVEN games against the Nat's, and a half dozen or so against teams ahead of them. However there it was an article this morning saying the Mets are not going to make the playoff, so they need to see what they have. GENTLEMAN WE STILL HAVE GAMES WITHIN OUR DIVISION HELLO. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. JUST SAYING

Where's the guy who argued with me over Jeremy Hefner pitching again for the Mets in meaningful games? In 8 inn @ St Lucie 8 ER 9 BB ERA 9.00.  Now he's hurt again because he tried to come back way too early........10 mos.  I hope Matt Harvey is paying attention.

flores is capable of being the worst fielder in baseball.  however, it's always a good day when you release Chris Young.

Den Decker should get 6 weeks at the top of the order to see what he can do.   Granderson should be batting third and Wright moved down to 5th.

mets should   bring up Montero , Noah and Matz in september and give them a few starts.  might as well look now.I

We need to deal Colon even if it means getting nothing and eating 3 million for next year.   if we save 8 from him and add in young's 7 we have 15 to work with.  of course some players will get raises so who knows the final number will be.  .

the deal staring us in the face will cost some money but If we were to get Tulo and Gonzo from the rockies we immediately move into contender class.  2 middle of the order hitters who fill ss and LF perfectly.

offer Gee , Neise, Plawecki, Flores, Herrera and Nimmo.  that should get it done.

Come on Mets. Getting the bats going. Let's go Mets. I believe in miracles.

Campbell's not an everyday player.  What is there to find out?

@nagel100 A bunch of decent players, and decent prospects, don't equate to an elite player or elite prospect.

That was a long post, you lost me after your negative Flores comment...anyone is capable of failing but I'm glad he's finally getting a chance to prove the doubters wrong.

That would NEVER get both tulo and cargo. By the way, they are so overrated by fans in this site, it's almost comical. It's like Stephen Drew all over again, who 90% of you guys wanted us to sign! Now I never hear his name in this blog...
