If Lannan can put together a good outing I wouldn't have an issue with his being slotted into the starting rotation until Niese gets better.

Whats this horse manure about Montero in the bullpen? He should either be the 5th starter or starting at AAA until needed.

Fingers crossed for a good result, hoping for the best, expecting the worst (this is the Mets after all.)

Why is everyone saying he's frail? It's preseason, he feels discomfort, go make sure it's ok. However, this team has been an absolute dumpster fire this preseason. Nothing has been accomplished. Literally nothing. In fact, we now have more question marks!! How is that possible? Ike/Duda- who knows???? Tejada SS- who knows??? 5th Starter- who knows???? And it appears D'Arnaud is a big question mark because he looks like Josh Thole, even smaller if that's humanly possible. Can something please go right for this team?????

Jon Niese is frail. Matz will be the team's go-to lefty in a year and a half.

Niese is certainly injury-prone, if not "frail", and that has long-term consequences for the starting rotation. Who could have imagined that the two contenders for first base would be out so long? Or that ss would be left suspended in mid-air even though management has bent over backwards to give the job to Tejada ? Or that d'Arnaud remains a mystery? Or that Flores has been confined in a twi-light zone? Some of this is just bad luck. Some of this is miscalculation by the FO.

@hankypanky Niese has made 24, 30, 27, 30 starts in the last 4 years.  It's hard to make an injury prone argument when he misses what, 10 starts over 4 years.

@nolrog @hankypankyBut he has yet to reach 200 innings, and has not been able to pitch a whole season because there was always an injury. Niese, when healthy can be a decent pitcher, but nothing more than a #3.
