This game is rigged! Why would Sandy bring in a rookie pitcher to play against the Yankee's top pitcher.

Tanaka puts his pants on like everybody else. Lets pin him his 1st loss tonight. Good debut for Montero.  Lets Go Mets!

Only the Mets  would have a rookie (Montero) oppose the Yanks ace Tanaka. . . It should be a fun to watch game with Montero on the mound. . Good Luck with your first ML start! . . Lets Go Rafael and Lets Go Mets!

Will be tough to win tonite against Tanaka who has been the Yanks' best pitcher.

Always nice to win 2 in the Bronx, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Collins is clueless. First game, waited way too long to have someone warming up for Farnsworth and got lucky Tex couldn't run + Duda making the play of his life, or else Collins costs us that game.

Last night, Wheeler CLEARLY didn't have it, was at 99 pitches, and Dice-K was warm. Wheeler had sat for about a half hour during the top 5th, NO reason to trot him back out there at that point and run his pitch count up to a career high- he didn't deserve the chance for a W anyway.

Meanwhile, Wally's 51's keep winning as more weapons are taken from his squad. Rallied in Bot 9th yesterday to improve to 28-11, a WIN% of .718.  Next best win% in the entire PCL: .556

I'm concerned with Wheeler but have to look at the coaching he's getting. There seems to be no ability to adjust in game and he still looks like he's trying to develop himself instead of just pitching. When you start a game and figure out what is and is not working, you work with what you have and compete. Somewhere between Wheeler's head and d'Arnaud's inexperience, the pitching coach has to intervene. Might be nice if there was a veteran pitcher sitting with him, as well. I don't know if the Mets have that sort of presence, the kind of veteran pitcher who can sit and talk with him, that he needs.

The Mets everyday line up should be as follows:

EYJ/Lagares

Lagares/CY

Murphy

Wright

Granderson

Flores

Duda

d'Arnaud

BTW, in regards to wheeler, why not assign him to the bullpen and work on his release point, breaking balls and control of his fastball? BP work has paid of in the past for some starters. Even Steve Traschel improved his pitching better after a stint in the BP, back in the day.

On a side note, I have to admit i'm pleasantly surprised by Duda's defense at 1B.  I love the fact that Duda uses his frame and stretches to the fullest to catch thrown ball from the infielders. I'm even more impressed how he catches all those balls thrown in the dirt!  I'm not really missing Ike's defense at 1B these days.

The guys are gonna get frustrated when the pop flys and long flys go to die at Citi.

So what's the corresponding roster move, already?  Is Valverde a goner?

Is it me or is anyone else concerned with Wheeler? Not so great lately along with Colon.

Montero 5 innings, Degrom 3 innings, Mejia 1 inning, Mets win.  Honestly, I can't believe how the stage has been set for Montero and company tonight. Man, I hope he kills it!

Does the Stadium make that much difference? If the offense goes way down for both teams at Citi, then maybe its the hitting background

Familia I think is the odd man out. See ya!

@90wins Is Tanaka a really good hitter?  Otherwise, who gives a sh!t who the Yankees starter is?

@dukewillie If certain individuals gave particular players an opportunity instead of needlessly bashing those players before any significant action has taken place, there wouldn't be any need for surprise. Right, Murph and Flores?

Look at Tom Glavine's stats in his first full season. Wheeler has good stuff just having a hard time locating the strike zone. It will come, I am not concerned. Maybe we need to lower expectations and watch him develop as the season goes.

@BadContract However with the offensive explosion they've had the last couple games and the return to Citi Field with Tanaka on the mound I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Mets put up a goose egg tonight

Chris Kujawa

@Bob Burket none of the balls last night would have been homeruns. murphs woulda been foul and the other two would be fly outs to the right fielder

@Bob Burket Hitting at Yankee Stadium certainly helps, but I think the Yankee pitching really hasn't been any good the last two days.

@D I'd say every manager in the league would have done the exact same thing- no one wants to take the starter out after 4 1/3 with a 7 run lead.  Those are games where you try to save the pen.  Backman absolutely would have tried to pump him up and send him back out there for three more outs.

@Will Keesee @D  and its my opinion, which oh by the way is the same opinion of Keith and Ron, that Wheeler did not even deserve the shot at the W.  He LABORED BIG TIME each of those 4 innings (High Stress Innings), and was DONE after 4 and 99 pitches. Dice K was warm and ready to be the long man last night, give him a fresh inning.  Especially after Wheeler sat through a LONG top 5th, no reason to send him back out there. Just my opinion, and i know i'm not alone in it, so you can chill the Eff out buddy

Dana Smith

@Brian Webster @BadContractYeah there's a pretty good chance Tanaka dominates the Mets tonight. It's simple, anyone who throws strikes consistently is going to hold down this Mets offense.

@moep  Yeah he has pitched well lately. Valverde is the odd man out I think.

D

@Will Keesee @D  Ok, if you wanna give him a chance to go 1, 2, 3 then fine... but you better tell the kid if you walk anyone you're done...

So Terry waits for him to Walk the Leadoff Man, then 2 more singles before making the move.

A real manager yanks his ass after the leadoff walk up 7 to show him whats up; Collins is clueless about these fine details of the game

D
D

@Will Keesee @D  I want excellence.  I want to feel confident in my manager making the best possible decisions to put his team in the best position to win.  Cause the day WILL come when this team is ready to really contend, and I personally don't want a sub-par manager screwing it up asleep at the wheel.

Some people look at the end result and are all "YAY!" about it,  I look more closely at the details and decisions made that most I guess

D
D

@Will Keesee @D  The point is, Farnsworth Sucks, and his leash should be so damn short at this point that if you are gonna put the guy in the bot. 9th in that bandbox to close the game, you BETTER have someone up as soon as a runner gets on.  He waited so long to entertain that thought, that the game could very easily have been over before any reliever got warm.  Got lucky cause Tex couldn't run and make it 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, and Duda made an incredible play at 1st by his, or anyone's, standards to turn 2 and end it.

@Bob Burket @Pete Brilvitch I'd be shocked if Familia was the odd man out. Just the other day, TC said he was close to naming him as the closer. I don't think you go from that to sending him down a few days later.
