Omar was a lot of things, but love him or hate him he knew a lot about baseball.  One of the things he continually preached while he was here was "strong defense up the middle".

d'Arnaud and Recker have been pretty good behind the plate (throwing out Billy Hamilton in Cincy being the cherry)

Tejada and Murph have proven to be solid up the middle even considering Tejada's slightly below avg. range and Murph's unorthodox style.

Lagares....nuff said.

All this to say?  Thru 14 games, the Mets have the best FPCT in the NL with only 5 errors so far.   Flyball pitchers + an extremely quick OF (EY/Lagares/CG) = most putouts in NL...

If the D'Backs are going to mail it in like they did yesterday, then the sweep is all but assured....and Gibson will be officially on the clock...

I hope this not the only time this season the Mets are a .500 team! They finally are beating up on teams which are worse than they are.

With the way Arizona is playing it would be a major disappointment if the Mets walk away with anything other than a sweep.  Not to mention it would be great for them to get above .500 before going into an important home stand.  The Mets will play a tough 7 games back to back against the Braves and Cardinals so they could dip well below that .500 mark if they don't win today and keep the momentum going into the home stand.

The bad news: Lagares injured his hamstring. The good news: It's a strain and not a tear. This gives Nieuwenhuis the chance to audition for Arizona. I say before the team leaves town we trade Nieuwenhuius and deGrom to Arizona for Gregorius. We don't need Nieuwenhuis, denDekker, Puello and Nimmo in the pipeline. We play today, then travel. Young comes off the DL on Friday.

7-7. Who'd a thunk it. .500  Only 83 more wins to go. You can do it.

COLON, MEJIA to both miss starts. I bet they still don't bring up Montero or DeGrom.

Who on earth thought they'd be in a position to go 6-3 on an extremely tough road trip? That includes blowing a 3 run lead in the 9th and losing a brutal 12 inning game...all while having half the lineup still slumping.

Pretty impressive...

@Chad Michael even if they lose today, the road trip is still a success...a 5-4 road trip is nothing to be ashamed of
