What’s on Tap: Mets, Duda and Gee in Ft. Myers at 1 pm

Dillon Gee and the Mets will depart from Tradition Field early Friday morning to take on the Twins in Fort Myers at 1:05 p.m.

Lucas Duda is scheduled to start at first base in his first Grapefruit League game since March 3. Ike Davis is expected to DH.

The regular season starts for the Mets in 10 days.

Matt Harvey will throw from 75 feet at Tradition Field, taking his next step in rehab from Tommy John surgery.

Why isn't Campbell being considered for 1b? I agree i don't see a huge upside in him but as someone posted earlier why is this team so set on Duda or Ike being at first ?? I just don't get it .. why was there even a spring training this year. if you look at this team it really seems like they had there entire team set before ST and are afraid to make any changes to there original plan.. send ike and Duda down let satin and campbell man the bag for awhile call up which ever duda or ike is playing well.. le them build some confidence and see what they can do or trade them for a warm bag on monkey Dung!!

Harvey reminds me of the 86 team players. the mets for years have been missing the swagger the screw up attitude that the Mets from the late 80's had.. I say we need more of it..

Did Harvey get the Mets approval before sending the tweet?

HALLELUJAH!  Duda and Davis might play today. We're saved! Now on to those 90 wins!

Give the 1st base job to Eric Campbell.Let Ike,Duda battle it out in Vegas if Campbell struggles.Then call who's the hottest to take over 1st. Wheeler has to be the opening day starter.He will dominate in 2014 like Harvey did in 2013....

@Brent Moody Because Satin is already given half of the platoon split and you don't platoon with two right-handed 1B. When looking at it from that standpoint Ike and Duda still hit RH better than Satin or Campbell.

The Mets front office is a wet blanket.

@mettle  They want him to only tweet when he's done with rehab, aka next years spring training.. so silly

@mettle I thought the exact same thing when I read it.

@Sam Mack  Starting Wheeler on opening day, also means he's likely to face every number one starter for at least a month or so.  What is the benefit of that?  As the season moves along, if he is the true ace, we will find out.

@Sam Mack

Agree about Eric Campbell. What is this entitlement that the Mets show to Duda and Davis? All the starters, if lucky, get 33-34 starts. Who cares who gets the Opening Day starts?

The fans (my opinion) need to see the METS move on. As you say, if SOUP (love it...are you hearing that Mets Marketing Team?) fails, move someone else in. BUT GOD, GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE.

@Sam Mack  I am a huge wheeler fan and supporter, but that's a lofty 2014 goal for him. If he was 3/4ths as good as Harvey's 2013, that'd be incredible.

Was wondering the same. I hope it's on WOR.

@crafalko17 @Brent Moodytrue. My only point was the neither Duda or Davis has earned the right to go north with the team yet this season ( and with today's annoucement that looks like they will bring both north) it is a joke.. so who's bench spot do they take.. Where does Duda fit? he should never ever ever ever touch the field as an OF'er on this team. so are we now doing a three players rotation at 1b? I just don't understand the thinking of this team. I understand the injuries and screwed up any plans the Mets had this ST but this team never seems to have a plan "B"  if you don't believe me look at SS. Sandy and the boys thought they would get Peralta when that fell through we got nothing LOL

@Tony @mettleHe'll be done with rehab well before then I'd bet as he is on pace for August atm, granted it is still early along the way. The interesting thing is that Harvey didn't have his tendon replaced like a lot of TJ's, he had it reinforced. To me that sounds a lot better, so not only does he have the other tendon in there, but he still has the original as well. I'd bet he'll be back this year, just we shouldn't talk about it til after the ASB when he begins to stretch out and actually pitch.

@lindro88 @Sam Mack  i want him facing every ace the Mets play.Us Mets fans will see how great he's gonna be with Harvey in years to come!!!

@Ed Renner @Sam Mack  im going to opening day & i wanna see Wheels vs Strasburg...the only reason i care about it & i wanna hear Wheels is better!!!

@Brent Moody @crafalko17  would you have been happy if the Mets gave Peralta 50m dollars? The other decent FA  shortstop still is unsigned.  The Cardinals are a championship contending team because the majority of that roster are homegrown players making smaller salaries.  They can afford to overpay for a guy like Peralta.

@Sam Mack @lindro88  That's out of his control, all he can do is pitch well.  I think the rotation will be good.  I would love for the FO to surprise me and make a move to sure up the SS position.  If for no other reason than to help pitchers like Wheeler.  Those extra outs  they give up by having a sub par defense in the middle of the infield, seem to always turn into nightmare innings.  We will find out soon enough. LETS GO METS....

@lindro88 @Sam Mack  like Harvey luck in 2013...maybe Wheels get the wins unlike Harvey??? LETS'S GO METS!!!

@Sam Mack @lindro88  I have faith in Wheeler, its the lineup and the pen I'm worried about.  I'd rather not watch Wheels throw 7 great innings and get a ND.  For his confidence and the team in general, Its better if he doesn't start on opening day.  IMO.

@crafalko17 @Ed Renner @Sam Mack  i don't want Satin on the team he SUCKS,he looks lost to me @ 1st & the plate.his walks are overrated , he isn't a good defender @ 1st!!! Mets will not win much if he's playing,platooning!!!!

@Sam Mack @The Feels  He's got great stuff, but if his results are any indication, he's ready to take a step forward, but dominate like Harvey did in 2013, I don't see happening. He needs to harness his control before that happens.
