Ah yes, a little stroll down silly lane. Fans complaining about how Ike's swing looks in what is a RESULTS oriented business.

I wonder if these same fans would've complained about Babe Ruth's waistline while he was revolutionized the game.

As in, "Oh sure, he hit the ball for a home run, but he never moves the runner over in the 5th inning."

LOL Now everyone will say Davis, but if you look at that swing it is terrible. Yes he can muscle a ball out of the park, but his hips are open, weight is out front, and his arms made that whole swing, that will never work long term in baseball. I am not hitting coach but god that is easy to see.

I hate to say it but tejada hasn't looked too terrible so far

Nice to see Davis come through and help his team win one. He did feel the need to remind everyone in his post game interview that he's not used to pinch hitting. Well maybe that's where he does his best work.

Interesting stat, Mets are 0-3 when scoring first, 2-0 when scoring second

despite the recent past, Ike just has the higher ceiling offensively and is competent with the glove. i'm glad Duda won that game single-handedly yesterday, but if it's between the two, Ike should get the nod.

...and Lagares has shown that he very well may be the best option for leadoff in this lineup. he should be there everyday with Brown playing LF for now until Young gets back. wouldn't mind den Dekker getting a call up for that spot either, since he was raking in spring training. EYJ just hasn't shown anything out there offensively.

ooops, meant to write, ... revolutionizing. Proving once again, haste makes waste.

Totally agree man been saying that for a while now. He's a strong guy and can hit one outta the ball park but he's a 200 hitter

Your right he's been decent as long as he's batting 8th and makes all the plays that should be made he's ok

@bingmets  No, but he's certainly not good enough to be the starting SS of the New York Mets.

Nice job. However I think the trade ideas are unrealistic.

@openmind6  He didn't do well pinch hitting last year, what makes you think one AB has trurned him into a stud pinch hitter? Maybe he's just mad the better player is sitting on the bench?

@jimmybx182 Problem in a nutshell. Other than Valverde doing very well so far, can Terry trust anyone else in that bullpen?

This is a quick crowd to judge people. Grandy is a pro. Just like Byrd was last yr. If he struggles it won't be because he's in NY.

@nymess  Lagares has been working counts like a pro.

@dreamer3kx Question is this, is he in the locker room like a beat reporter or posting his opinion?

First goal should be a link to the game winning hit.

Also I believe that pitch was a hanging curve ... So if I'm not mistaken to hit a hanging curve out to the Pepsi porch for a walk off wouldn't he have to do those things lol I mean irk I'm not a hitting coach either but I thought that was pretty good swing I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU DO THAT !!!

@brosoul @bingmets  Yes, actually, he is, provided he can maintain his current level of production for the remainder of the season. That's a huge if, but there's no need to have an offensive first SS as so many fans have clamored for. If he can play very good defense while batting .280, SS will be the least of our probelms.

@brosoul, apparently he is...

Still, we were expecting a disaster. So far he's been solid.

@lindro88  haha I know :/ I'm just trying to think outside the box!

I liked it. Who cares if he was out in front. It was a hanger, he kept his hands back, and hit it off the 2nd deck. Do they all have to be picturesque?

@amazins @nymess  Legares looks great. If I didn't know it was Juan Legares and I'd think it was Beltran. He's got that smooth languid way about him.  Let's hope

@John G Oleon @brosoul  And his hitting through his first 2 years shows he does have the potential to hit. It's like you said you're not a htting coach so stop trying to act like one

John G Oleon
John G Oleon

@Sean Garcia  right so because I cannot do that that makes me wrong...wow! So now we are saying Ike can hit? On a hanging curve, you need to wait and keep your weight back....any fastball there he would have struck out big time....Major league hitters can hit both, they do so with patience and trusting bat speed, they drive balls with their lower body, not the arms....

Nick Squatrito
Nick Squatrito

@openmind6 @Nick Squatrito  Obviously you didn't read my comment or you would have realized i put LAST YEAR. So he's had two attempts this year and happened to get two hits. Like I said going 2-2 in pitch hitting attemots doesn't automatically make u a stud pinch hitter

lindro88
lindro88

Beltran? Lets not go crazy. He'll never be the offensive player Beltran is/was.
