What’s on Tap for Wednesday, June 4

The Mets continue their three-game series against the Cubs in Chicago on Wednesday at 8:05 p.m.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (2-0, 2.45 ERA) makes his first start since replacing Rafael Montero in the rotation. He’ll be opposed by Edwin Jackson (3-5, 4.81 ERA).

In case you missed it…

Last night at Wrigley Field, Zack Wheeler was dominant, but the Mets wasted lots of early scoring chances before the bullpen wilted late during a 2-1 loss to the Cubs >> Read more at MetsBlog, ESPN, MLB.com, Newsday and New York Post

With the bullpen now rested, Buddy Carlyle or Dana Eveland are expected to be demoted in favor of a position player before Wednesday’s game.

Eric Young, Jr. ran on Tuesday for the first time since injuring his hamstring. He’s eligible to return from the disabled list on May 10.

Looks like Wheeler is on his way!

Another wasted effort of great starting pitching. Feels like late 1960's early 1970's.

I guess that means May 10, 2015.

I'm really starting to lose track of these roster and role changes.  Dice-K is starting tonight, but part of me thinks he also has to be his own closer.  And I think Andrew Brown was both brought up and sent down for himself.

CHRIS YOUNG DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY BASEBALL

Did anyone see the play the other day when Young scored, then Murphy was close behind, heading towards home plate?  For those that know how to play baseball, it was Young's job to tell Murphy to slide or not.  Young of course did not do this.  Murphy slides, when he didn't have to, and comes up limping a bit.  If Young had done his job and told him to stay up, Murphy would not have risked injury. GREAT JOB CHRIS YOUNG.....NOT!!!!

P.S. - sorry for posting this multiple times, I am so disgusted with this clown Young...HE STINKS!!!!

Rather keep Eveland and send Edgin down. That was a meatball he sent down the center of the plate.

Was it REALLY necessary for TC to take out Wheeler. I hate losses like this....they put me in a bad mood

It all goes back the the bases loaded with no outs, when Murph didn't score. Then we could not drive anyone in, that is a sin that is what cost us the game. When you have the bases loaded with no outs you have to score!!!!

We keep getting so close...then we lose stupid games like last night.

Can we send Scott Rice down, or at least send him to Hawaii for a week to rest?

CY was 0 for 4 with 6 lob that is a bad night. he has had many of those nights . and now he is back below the Mendoza line. i think its time to break that promise. Mets need to put soup in there and hope he gets hot again after TC cooled him off.

Chris Young needs to go. He doesn't even pass the weakest eye test. And you are going to lose close games, but losing last night with Edgin and Rice is a disgrace. Neither one of them should have been anywhere near a mound starting the 8th inning. It has to be Black or Jeurys and then Mejia.

I don't usually harp on these things, but it is cute when you folks cut and paste your own typos. EYJ eligible to return on May 10? Really?

No it's the on deck batters job not another base runners job to tell a runner to slide or not.

@Ed Zoubi It is so disgusting that CY is allowed to bat 5th, let alone get any playing time.
