Dillon Gee is scheduled to make a rehab start in Brooklyn on Friday. It will be Gee’s third rehab start since he landed on the disabled list with a strained right lat on May 11. The Mets are still deciding whether to activate Gee after Friday’s start, or wait until after the All-Star break.

The lineup propsals below differ from a TC lineup in that -CY never plays,Tejada bats 8th, DArnaud will see better pitches at 7th than 8th, Granderson will be more protected with Lagares behind him vS LHP, Duda should play less against LHP. Id even consider a platoon with Campbell now.

Vs LHP

EY

Murphy

Wright (when ready)

Granderson

Lagares

Duda (Campbell against good LHP)

D'Arnaud

Tejada

Vs RHP

Lagares

Murphy

Wright

Granderson

Duda

Newenhuis

DÁrnaud

Tejada

This lineup can play .500

Add an OF and a 1B that can hit and produce, they will compete.

This team needs that one big bat that can carry a team, but I have no idea where isn't coming from, and Mets have no sluggers in the minors, their top power guys Brown 14, Burgamy 13, Lawley 13, and Dykstra 12, are at best bench bats (Brown) and at worst a 33 year old playing In AA (Burgamy)

Watching the games, you can see how the hitters are swinging and making contact.

D'Árnaud looks a bit better than last month

Tejada actually is looking better

CY looks lost consistently. He is behind fastballs and rarely hits the ball on the nose. I think it is awful that he continues to play instead of Kirk or  EY.

Cant wait for Gee to return and Dice K to bullpen. Then we will score 2 runs and lose 3-2 instead of 5-4. Whatever it takes to lose this squad can find the way.

Gary Cohen made a good point last night when he said doesn't anyone owe an apology for clamoring for Stephen Drew over Tejeda all winter and Drew is hitting .136. How quickly people forget. Just how would he have made the Mets better again?

Dust bunnies, vomit, pubic hair on soap, moldy food, soccer, Celine Deon, traffic, parachute not opening, weathermen, potato bugs, stepping in it, cleaning out the kitty litter, people who eat with their mouth open, hipsters..........Are all better than the METS!!!

Talking about the offseason July 4th weekend is really depressing. This has to stop at some point.   We are supposed to be getting ready for the meat of the season, with a competitive team.  Year after year of  losing interest in this team by the time the summer actually starts is getting old.

Predicted Mets offseason moves this winter:

- Trade Murphy for more prospects

- Promote more minor leaguers

- Brag like heck that Harvey will be back, noting that his absence was the reason for the poor 2014

Kim Jones made a fascinating point on the FAN this morning.  If the Mets are trying to be the Rays, if every dime counts, they're going to need smarter people in the front office.  It was a direct shot at Sandy and his band of fools whose primary purpose is not building a winner, but making sure that nothing impacts Fredo's opulent lifestyle.

I love the Mets but find myself really disliking almost everything about this collection of players and mgmt. Sandy and TC HAVE to go. I'm fed up with being fed up. I want a refund on my MLBTV subscription.

Is this a 10 year rebuild?

Anyone see Chris Young's awesome at-bat last night with the Mets down 5-4, runners on first and 3rd, 1 out?

Way to deliver Chris.....NOT!!!!

Love the fact that people still mention Nelson Cruz everyday on this site.  I guess he was interested in signing a one year deal to hit in a giant ballpark, in the middle of bad lineup. Unless someone was lobbying for the Mets to give him 60-80 million bucks like he wanted early in free agency, and I don't recall seeing any posts like that.  Let it go already.

Nope. ts 19 games for Drew. I'd put money on him having a better season than Tejada when all is said and done.

I'm so sick if Tejada only turning it on when his job is on the line.

I wish Flores got a more consistent look.

Tarheel11
Tarheel11

Maybe because he didn't have a ST and he's only played 19 games for Boston. He's in his spring training now. I'd take him any day of the week over Tejada. At 8-9 mil a year for two years. Obviously not at the 14m but Tejada is not a starting SS for any other MLB team.

Wow Tejada is awesome. He even looks like a ball player.

@lindro88 I hear you and isn't now the time for Sandy to try something?  We have slipped from 5 games to 9 games back in the past week...wasn't now the time to try and stop the bleeding?

Paul Gardner

Prospects are just that. I want more MLBers. This front office hasn't hit on a young player yet so why trust them?

Seriously name one guy this current FO has brought in that made a difference.

Even Degrom is an Omar guy!

@Mike At this rate, I'd bet on the Jets getting to the Super Bowl before the Mets get to the WS. I wonder if Las Vegas has a line on that?

ken1010

@Father Dooley We all know the CY experiment should be over.  I wonder how many more at bats we are required by Sandy's promise to give him.

And then you knew after that AB that they wouldn't score again. It never ends with this team. What can you do?

stemog
stemog

@Tarheel11 I thought he was getting the same great workouts at Boras' state-of-the-art compound?

stemog

@vimets Yep, that would've been another $18 million or so for 1 HR and 12 RBI, combined.

stemog

@Paul Gardner Compared to Drew, right now he is. People here would be all over Drew if he came here and started like that.

@Father Dooley @lindro88  Looking at the standings is a useless exercise.  They'll probably run off a 5 of 6 soon to get back to 5 under..  End of the day this is a sub .500 team with no plan on doing a thing about it.

So is Wheeler, Thor and TDA b/c Sandy used Omar guys (Beltran & Dickey) to get them.

What has Sandy done by himself? Draft picks? Free Agents? None have really worked out.

lindro88
lindro88

@Paul Gardner  It's a little early to tell what these guys will turn into.  I do agree, tired of talking about prospects.  This might as well become a Mets minor league site.

lindro88
lindro88

@rustysribs  I'd take almost any team winning any championship before the Mets win a WS

lindro88
lindro88

@Mike Dell Italia  All I know is early in free agency he was looking for 80m or some crazy number.  I'd imagine he'd have taken Peralta money.  He ends up taking a one year deal, is having a career year and will end up getting his big money next offseason.

ken1010
ken1010

@stemog @Tarheel11 Working out and hitting batting practice pitchers doesn't cut it, no matter what Boras says.

Paul Gardner
Paul Gardner

I agree with you but the Mets are subpar in too many spots with regards to position players. This is just not going to work

1harris1
1harris1

That point made by Gary is a bit disingenuous though. Drew did not have the benefit of a spring training, and hence his timing is understandably off. He's a proven major league player who deserves the benefit of the doubt in regard to his current struggles. Now if he's still hitting like this in September, that's a different story.

The Mets didn't go after Drew because they didn't want to spend the money to sign him. Same reason why they don't go after a lot of players. It obviously wasn't just about Drew's abilities vs. Tejada's.

And frankly, since Alderson refuses to acknowledge CY as a bad signing, why should anybody have to apologize to him about criticism for not signing Drew? It works both ways.

vimets
vimets

No they would have been all over TC and SA.

Paul Gardner
Paul Gardner

I agree but they don't seem to have a good talent eye thus far. NYC is not Tampa and prospects don't have the comfort here to struggle

ken1010
ken1010

@lindro88 @Mike Dell Italia

I think he is old enough and enough of a defensive liability that he could be had for  3-yr contract this offseason, maybe 3/40.  He has to be an option for left field, along with whatever options Sandy can come up with via trade.

vimets
vimets

The Mets had already signed CY way before the Cruz/Granderson discussion came about and signed Granderson over Cruz. At that time Cruz was demanding a 5 year 75 mil $ contract.

lindro88
lindro88

@Father Dooley @Mike Dell Italia  I agree, the CY signing was strange. That being said offering him 8 million dollars at that point when he was looking for Peralta money would have been useless.

vimets
vimets

@Father Dooley No and they shouldn't be.

lindro88
lindro88

@Father Dooley @lindro88 @Mike Dell Italia  IMO... No.  He is having a career year.  If he came to the Mets for some big money deal, we all know how that would work out.  lol

lindro88
lindro88

@vimets  Put Cruz in this lineup and stadium and he doesn't have 26 homeruns.  He probably has similar numbers to Granderson.

mets74
mets74

@lindro88 Plus he'll be pushing 35 and if he doesn't perform up to the lofty expectations, people will whine about the signing of an old player.

Tarheel11
Tarheel11

We shot our load this year with the Grandy signing. We won't have another signing like that for a few years

vimets
vimets

@Iindro88 quite possible and with no DH and no real fielding position he would have had way less at bats.
