tradition is on the phone ... it wants to know why the Cubs are playing night games now.

So the team is a game under .500, 1 1/2 out in the wild card and in the hunt for a weak division. And it's June.

But some people will always complain. So go on and blame the manager/coaching staff/players/whomever. Or you can actually give some credit. This team is doing better than expected despite the naysayers.

How many of you said, not just felt, but said they'd never approach .500 again this season?

The Mets should be in just about every game except for the occasional stinker because of their pitching. I love being able to now put the games on and have at least a chance to win.

If you think Alderson reads, or gives two shits about the comments here you're crazy. They just took 4 out of 5. How about some positive talk. That's why those of you always bitching are just unhappy with your own boring lives.

I'm going with either #FreeWilmer or #FreeFlores

Either way, the dude has to start over a guy like Tejada who is barely an MLB caliber backup.  If Wilmer isn't starting 5-6 times a week, Terry has to go - simple as that.  Personally I think he should be fired regardless since I don't know of many (or any really) franchises that would put up with three straight losing seasons to begin a managerial tenure and THEN get extended.  Now between the benching Lagares earlier in the season and the current spotty playing time for Wilmer, it's clear this guy has no idea what he's doing.  It's not like we're talking about a Lasorda, LaRussa, Torre etc. who's done it in the past and we're waiting for him to turn it around here...Terry has never gotten it done ANYWHERE.

Collins after the game "if he (den Dekker) can hit the ball he will turn into the defensive centerfielder we are looking for" ....I laughed so hard when I heard that.

But without joking, the Mets have been playing some good ball and just need to keep it going. You just have to hope TDA figures it out and Flores can keep it going.

For those who didn't know, Wright is 4th in the MLB in hits and Murphy is 7th, The offense around them just needs to find their stride. 3 against the cubs, 3 at San Fran and 3 at home against the Brewers. For the Mets to go 5-4 or 6-3 would be huge but then again I'm stating the obvious,.

Lets go Mets!

Is there anyway the Mets can play the rest of their games on the road?

Nice shout outs for Colon and den Dekker.

Eric Young is such a fast healer, he was ready to come off the DL more than 2 weeks before he went on.  Too bad Matt Harvey couldn't heal this fast.  He would have been fully recovered from his Tommy John surgery before he even injured his arm.

The incompetence here is astounding.

I stated last week that an 8-3 road trip was able to be done. Part 1 out of the way and now get at least 4-2 in Chi and SF. Get R Done. It's probably about time for another RIGHT/WRONG DIRECTION POLL.

Sound Smart:  Eric Young Jr. is due to come off the DL on June 10th, not the above referenced May 10th.

Very glad to see Flores and Duda  kicking it into gear. EVERYBODY NEEDS TO STEP IT UP SO WE CAN STAY ON A ROLL.

Could the Mets win the division?

Lagares has been a .250 hitter the past month. He plays a grwat centerfield but his hitting has been just average.

@Wayne Pavia i agree that he doesn't read the comments on here, and he shouldn't! However, let's be realistic, we took 4/5 from the Phillies and took the series from the Pirates. Wins are wins, but let's not sugarcoat who we were playing. Hopefully, the winning continues, especially against lesser competition.

@Wayne Pavia I can't believe that you are asking Mets fan to talk positive about SA. He has absolutely no clue on what he is doing. All he does is cut cost, cut players and, recently, cut coaches.

TC is an idiot. Lagares is far better than denDekker in every aspect of the game. Lagares IS the CF you want outthere.

BringBackDaveTelghe

@Chris Well...that's why judging a player solely on hits is pretty goofy.  DWright has gotten a ton of hits, but he's barely walking and barely driving the ball for power.  I'm not sure if it's bad luck, approach or something else but...A week long hot streak can change that though..

90wins
90wins

@Bob Burket Well, if the Wilpons file Citifield for bankruptcy and get out of the Madorf nonsense, the Mets would start spending again and play the rest of their games on the road (or lease a spot at Yankee stadium when the Bombers are not playing home). But I like Citifield way better than Yankee stadium.

@nolrog In the last 2 weeks EYJ has learned to bend space AND time.  Now THAT is impressive.  (He still can't get on base though.)

@Bob Burket The Mets do poorly against bottom ranked teams, think Marlins/Dbacks. I want the Mets to win, but I am also realistic with the Mets can play horrible baseball against losing teams.

@Dr. Jonathan Reefer Flores I'm actually excited about, he's a young player and we don't know his ceiling, as opposed to Duda.  I really hope Terry plays him tonight.

Can we let them get to .500 first?

The NL east is really bad.  Heck, the entire National League has only 6 teams over .500.

@drmetfan Lagares is the clear center fielder. Shoudn't even be discussed. den Dekker would be a nice fit in left honestly if he can hit. Having 2 out of 3 of your outfielders being gold glove material is pretty awesome.

jamets
jamets

@Dr. Jonathan Reefer  No, he didn't say that.  I heard the comment and the "quote" above is not what Collins said. He said something like, if denDekker shows he can hit, he will be real good defensive centerfielder.

Chris
Chris

@Dr. Jonathan Reefer He didn't say they were going to kick Lagares out of CF. But he said CF because it's den Dekker's natural position. I say move him to LF if he can hit, Never was a fan of the Chris Young experiment from day one.

Chris
Chris

@BringBackDaveTelghe Wright has not been a problem at the plate. He just hasn't driven the ball for power as much this season.

Bob Burket
Bob Burket

@mets2death @Bob Burket  I was talking about the defense. Can't really say too much right now about the offense. He will give us pretty much what Lagares does. If he turns out to be a hitter, then its a bonus.

anymos

@90wins @Bob Burket Except we just went 6-2 against the Pirates and the Phillies who both have losing records, so that argument kind of goes out the window.

I'm just worried about the late travel to Chicago and if that screws up Wheeler.

BringBackDaveTelghe
BringBackDaveTelghe

@mets2891 @Dr. Jonathan Reefer It's insane that Tejada has so much support (from TC, the announcers, etc), after hitting line drives for 2 days, most not even ending up as hits. Nothing is changing with this guy...

C.K. Dexter Haven
C.K. Dexter Haven

@Dr. Jonathan Reefer How can you not care?  His ABs for May represent more than HALF his total ABs for the year....247 isn't a "great" month.  Lagares is their CF of the future...unless of course Sandy or Ricco tell him he needs to be in better shape, and he chooses not too, and then....

Ed Yano
Ed Yano

288 is GREAT! Boy you set the bar really low.I'd call that ok and with his defense it makes him an everyday player, but hardly GREAT

drmetfan
drmetfan

@Steven Matregrano @drmetfan Does he catches that ball last night? We will never know that. But given what Lagares has done, on plays far more difficult than that from last night, I say he would have done it with easy.

Chris
Chris

@Steven Matregrano @drmetfan Having both of them in the outfield would be pretty ridiculous. Lagares and den Dekker both have to learn how to hit consistently. Lagares has been pretty good this year at the plate so thats a good sign.

Bob Burket
Bob Burket

@anymos @90wins @Bob Burket  What argument? I just stated an opinion that the Mets can have an 8-3 road trip. Are you saying the Cubs cant be beat? If the Mets play well, 2 out of 3 against the Giants can be done too.

Why would the Marlins trade their best player to a team in the division?
