I'd love for the Mets to feed the Braves a big shtt sandwich this week...win the series or even (gulp!) sweep them.

The Monday uniforms are ugly but I understand the Mets have not lost while wearing them. They can play in their PJs if they keep winning.

Didn't get too watch the game but it seemed that the Mets were in control for most of the game.  I'm sure it was a let down to have the Braves go ahead towards the end so I like that they fought back and ended up winning this one.  A huge issue for the Mets has been fighting to win the close games so this was a big win for the team.

For all you pessimistic fans who will comment, big in the sense that this young team needs to grow and learn how to win these types of games, not big in the sense that the Mets can comeback and win it all this year.

On July 8, 9, 10  1969 the Mets won 2 of 3 against the Cubs and became contenders for the division. In case anyone cares.

Familia and Black should be the 9th and 8th inning guys respectively for years to come. Mejia should be traded or just a middle guy. The mets should let him finish the season as closer because he's done a good job overall. He just isn't lights out like familia, although he's got out of some huge jams.

WHY is Chris Young still on this team? He is playing mostly against lefties, and he is hitting .157 against them lol

I don't think the Mets have to be all "buyers" or "sellers."  Trading a pitcher for Castro makes some sense to me - he's young, not outrageously expensive, and a definite upgrade on Tejada. On the other hand, Murphy is a lot older, having a career year, and might be at the peak of his value. I think it could be possibly rational to both a) trade for Starlin and b) trade Murph for a good prospect. Overall, this would still be more of a "rebuild" strategy, since Castro is still relatively young and may not be at the peak of his career yet. So both moves would make sense to me.

@C.K. Dexter Haven Spoken like a true suffering Met fan! I'm just glad I don't have to see Chipper Jones anymore. The sight of that guy made me crazy, and of course the fact that he owned us like little biatches didn't help!

@Neal Shimmel Are you really asking why he's still on the team? You know why. Because he makes a lot of money.

@brian2740 You were only off by 4 innings! That's only half a game. And you predicted the Mets would lose and they won. Close again.

@brian2740  The uniforms don't cost all that much in the grand scheme of things. They are ugly, but I think the Mets are actually undefeated wearing them.

@Steven Matregrano @Olerud42 wheeler should not be moved.  niese , Gee. Colon, Degom, Montero  should be the bait for a couple of bats.

add Gonzalez and Castro to next year's team and we may have something.

problem is money.  Wilpons won't spend it and until they do everything is not worth talking about.

@brian2740 @Olerud42  You know what we'll hear: "Well, we'll wait for the winter meetings when there's more of a market for what we're looking for".  Then come December it will be "let's see what teams are looking for in spring training".  Then in March it will be "teams will be looking to make moves at the trade deadline.  Let's see how things play out".

Always an excuse to do nothing.  Unless it's trading a high priced veteran for prospects, there's nothing happening with this organization on the trade front.

@brian2740 @Pete Brilvitch  I actually think Military Monday is a nice promotion. Regardless, what does the marketing staff have to do with Alderson? Do you think he is actually involved with these promotions?
