Somebody has to teach these pitchers to protect the hitters, especially Wright!  How many times since Cain threw at Wright have we seen balls thrown at his head with no retaliation.  Cano should have been on his arse!

difference between mets and yankees... salarte has good 3 months than comes back to earth and is traded.. those 3 months on the mets would have him playing for another 5 years

Those last 2 items seem to go together well. Put CY on DL and call up Flores and let him start everyday. If he performs well when it's time for CY to be activated than he stays and another move is made be it sending someone else down or cutting CY

You are joking...right?

Does he post about Conforto, Plawecki, Syndergaurd etc...

Cerrone is posting Flores streak to fire us up...and for me, it's working. Flores is a flat out better hitter than Tejada,, more power and better average, make the change

I've said it once and I will say it again the dodgers have two stud prospects. Corey seager and joc pederson. Pedersen can start today in mets outfield. Seager would be up this time next year. The mets also have the players to pull it off and it starts with trading Murphy. And some pitching.

25 yr old OF Steven Souza is having a great year in IL for the Nats .361.. 15 hrs ..21 stolen bases wonder if they would consider taking Colon for him?

Albert E Lewis

Chris young is just a waste of money..we need to move on and see if Colon could bring back a decent OF prospect.

Find a place for Flores and give him a legit shot at settling in and I believe he will hit ...

I don't care if he isn't Tejada at short, because Tejada is no Ozzie Smith ... just the occasional nice play ... with NO real offensive upside ...

Albert E Lewis

If the Mets will not play Flores and there really is no room here for him why not package him with Colon to a team that needs a starter and a young 3bman for a decent upper level prospect...maybe the only reason they haven't traded Flores is hes Murphs replacement and Sandy wants to trade Murph?

Last night, Wilmer Flores went 3-5, extended his hitting streak to 22 games, and is batting .330. He eclipsed Matt Reynolds, who is sinking, down to .320. How long can you leave Flores in the minors when the ML team lacks offense? It makes no sense.

The manager used his pitchers poorly, didn't properly utilIze the talent be had and made so many mistakes it's laughable. He needs to be fired. He's a terrible game manager who doesn't won.

Those are the comments directed towards Freddie Gonzalez of the Braves in recent days. Their GM is also a loser for Dan Uggla and the Upton trade.

I guess fans know best.

Want to get better overnight and not spend any $? Cut CY, Fire TC, bring up Flores and play him everyday at SS. Play Campbell in LF everyday and get him 4 AB's daily. Consistent lineup, good in-game managerial moves, positive handling of youth, strong pitching = competitive.

Wow looks like were back to not hitting well again....why do I get the feeling Sandy will never address this problem?

Right about here teams that want to win get better and the other teams don't. It's your move SA.

Hey fellow Mets fans, when I logged on this morning I saw this headline: "MLB team suffering meltdown." For once it wasn't about our Mets! (It was Colorado). When I clicked on the link I figured it was somehow the Mets (I know we've been loosing, but I wouldn't call it a meltdown yet), I assumed it was us and something had happened overnight. So, on the upside, at least we aren't Colorado.

aruss
aruss

I still have faith that the Mets can turn things around in the next few days before a regular second half meltdown, but why is it that there are 9 teams (NYY, TOR, BOS, TB, CLE, KC, CWS, MIA, and PIT) have a worse run differential than the Mets' +10 but have a better record?

@Brandon Hillman yes the dodgers will just give us 2 top 50 prospects in all of baseball for a 2b who is going to start making a lot of money, and is not a very complete player.  The Dodgers have Dee Gordon and Alex guerrero at 2b.  Why would they make this trade?  The dodgers want premium players. i.e. david price, chase headley.  If you have said it once and then again, dont say it ever again.  The only logical trade with the dodgers is for Kemp or Ethier.  But they make way too much money for the Wilpons and are often injured.  Wilmer Flores is a fit for them at 3b, but not really because Hanley is going to be moved there if he resigns.  Get your head out of your a$$ lol  AND WE DONT NEED MORE PROSPECTS.

@Kevin John

"Acquiring Syndergaard would give the Cubs the top of the rotation starter that they have lacked. He is young and thus a perfect piece to build an entire rotation around. If Syndergaard became a Cub, this would be a monumental acquisition and one that the front office would surely be proud of."

Yet so many people here are so quick to say this kid isn't going to be any good

Tarheel11
Tarheel11

@Kevin John no! But the article is right, the Cubs would be thrilled to move Castro and get back Syndergaard

@gregf That's what I don't get. Everybody raves about Tejada and the game the other night in SD where he made that "great" play in the hole between SS and 3B. Guess what, that's the play that a ML shortstop HAS to make! That's not a great play! That's normal for the position!

Yet the very next inning the SD shortstop went on the second base bag on a hard hit ball to take away a hit. THAT was a great play, not what Tejada did.

Albert E Lewis
Albert E Lewis

@gregf  I could see keeping Tejeda if he had 10-12 hr power or 30 stolen base speed...sadly he has neither no power no speed...and so far this year doesnt look like .280 hitter...im SURE we can find better.

@Albert E Lewis I am sure that is in the works.  A lot of speculation here on metsblog but we all have no clue.  Unless SA has been posting as @sandybgone for sh1ts and giggles.

@Doubleday  I wouldn't get too exited over Reynolds nearly every scout who saw him said hes no more than a utility player.

theglider

The only place to play him would be first. Can he handle it? Otherwise he has no position.

shea

@Joseph Baffi AMEN.....its called lack of scouting....let him go through the league (and scouts) a few times and we'll realize why he is a career minor league player.

jsecurity
jsecurity

Maybe - but he's hitting .327. I would give him an everyday chance in lieu of CY who for 1000 games is hitting .233.

@aruss  I don't care what kind of sabermatics, statistical tarot cards they are reading. If you are scoring more runs than the opposition and still losing more than winning, it's got to point to the coach, or lack thereof.

Steve Finelli
Steve Finelli

@aruss Run differential means nothing.  It's just a way for them to justify false hope.  You could win 6-0 on successive nights and loses 12 consecutive one run games and be even yet the record says 2-12.  It's a mindless stat.

Brian Webster

@For_Sale Did you just call Chase Headley a premium player? Dude had 1 great season 2yrs ago and not much in his 5 other seasons and Yanks just got him for a couple nothing players

Kevin John

@Tarheel11 @Kevin John Honestly, I say pull the trigger on it. I think Castro would help us tremendously. In a few years how the heck is the Mets ownership going to be able to afford all of these pitchers anyways?

For_Sale

@theglider Why was Flores never considered for LF? throughout his development in the minors.  Not now.

jsecurity
jsecurity

Is he that bad at short? 16 games this year - 1 error. Didn't look terrible to me?

jsecurity
jsecurity

@shea. Again, maybe. But would like to get to that point, like Ike and CY and put a period on it.

aruss

@sandybgone @aruss maybe it's just that they're winning in blowouts and losing all the close ones.... what does that say?

Tarheel11
Tarheel11

@Kevin John @Tarheel11 lol. Well that's a whole different issue. I completely agree though about even being able to keep all these young pitchers with our payroll

ny12jets

@For_Sale Why wasn't Jeffries taken off SS in the minors.  Typical Mets.  Bring up Flores, play him at 2nd base, SS, 3B and 1B. Him and Campbell can move around.  Let's see what he can do.  Tejada stinks.

gregf
gregf

@jsecurity  Absolutely agree ... first Tejada was in doghouse but based on a couple weeks of singles hitting, he's the incumbent. I don't understand or agree ...

ny12jets
ny12jets

@jsecurity I agree.  Would hate to see him go and then turn up as a good hitting SS for another team.

@aruss @sandybgone

Losing the close ones says we have poor fundamentals and a manager bad at in-game decisions.

Tarheel11
Tarheel11

@aruss @sandybgone Says they are 7 games under .500 and isn't that all that matters?

I get what you're saying but to me that's just a diversion tactic away from the facts. At the end of the day, wins are what matters and not run differential

For_Sale
For_Sale

@ny12jets @For_Sale oh cmon dont bring up Jefrries he made his major league debut in 1987.  Totally irrelevant.

For_Sale
For_Sale

@ny12jets @jsecurity If the Mets need a SS, why do you think Flores is not up here?  Because he cannot field the position long term.  He is not a SS.  It is not rocket science.

jsecurity
jsecurity

@For Sale. How do we know? He looked ok when he played. He's a third baseman, not an outfielder we are trying to convert. Doubtful SA is going out to get a SS so why not give it a try? I would question whether or not he is going to hit major league pitching before I discarded him as a shortstop. Worth a try? Not rocket science though.

jsecurity

If things made sense in Metsdom, CY wouldn't be up here playing and Collins would be retired.

For_Sale

@jsecurity CY is on the roster because the wilpons paid him a lot of money.  Terry Collins is managing the team because he has friends in high places.
