Bartolo Colon, whose mother passed away on Monday, has been placed on the bereavement list. Gonzalez Germen was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to take Colon’s spot on the roster.

David Wright continues to insist that the left shoulder he injured earlier this season, which was re-aggravated after a hit-by-pitch a few days ago, is not to blame for his second-half slump.

If the Mets acquire a shortstop from the Cubs, Javier Baez and Addison Russell may be more realistic than Starlin Castro >> Read more at MetsBlog

Bobby Abreu, who was recently re-signed to a minor league deal, is expected to join the Mets in September when rosters expand.

How the heck is Addison Russell helping?  Is he major league ready Can he start come April and expect to make an impact  How is trading for him not saying wait for 2017 or 18?  NO!  Guy must be available to play in Queens... immediately.

Oh boy, can't wait to see the return of Gonzalez ("I like his stuff"--Keith H.) Germen and the eventual return of Bobby ("O-30") Abreu in September. What do you have to do to get firmly canned by this organization?

"The Mets tied the game late, but wound up losing to the Cubs, 4-1, on Monday afternoon at Citi Field"

The Mets had the lead and the Cubs tied it midway and took the lead late.

You must be thinking about SUNDAY's game

in other words, another off-season of doing nothing and hoping for the best.  shocking.

The Mets will probably and inexpicably hit well on this road trip, just adding to our frustration when Sandy uses it as an excuse to keep the offense in tact.

We are down 14 Games in the loss column, what are our chances of getting to 20?

It's as simple as trade Murphy trade Flores trade soup trade colon release or trade tejada trade montero and Matz and bowman bring in castro and bring in an outfielder like Rios let plawecki back up dAurnaud let Reynolds back up castro

And Herrera trade gee and EYJ

Starting lineup

1.Herrera 2B

2. Castro SS

3. Granderson RF

4. Duda 1B

5. Wright 3B

6. Rios LF

7. D'Arnaud C

8 Lagares CF

bench

1. Reynolds

2. Plawecki

3. Dykstra

4. Insert free agent

5. Insert free agent

Starting pitchers

i would put grandy in  center go and trade or sign 2 corner of with pop noah montero lageras plus 2nd level prospects should bring you back a nice bat of  cargo grandy melky is doable and if there willing to give up more then 1 top prospect they can go all out for castro now travis d C duda 1b murph 2b castro ss rtight 3b grandy melky cargo in of we contend next yr and can wait for the 1st rd draft pick from last yr  to slide in melky place in 2 yrs. im tired of waiting for players to mature astro do that and while they always have good young players they never seem to go anywhere.we really need to change this franchise to a winner or we always will have to over pay for free agents and never get that 8 mill $ player like cruz we get chris youngs for 8 mil

Now, what exactly did Fred Wilpon mean by "They better" (win 90 games)?  This team needs to go 31-5 the rest of the way to hit that.  Is there any repercussion or accountability for continued failure?  I'm assuming the answer is a big fat no.

At this point make a move with Reynolds. Release Teagarden to free up a 40 man spot and call Reynolds up. Not that he's the answer but maybe he can stay hot up here. At this point why not

Hopefully Sandy does something about our horrible offense.. but don't have a lot of faith in him.

We must have been watching different games, I remember Duda homering to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. But hey what do I know? I don't write a blog about this team.

If the Mets cannot get a proven MLB player.. then they better make sure any player they get at SS is a ''cant miss'' rookie prospect. Scouting report  on Baez says ''elite mlb player''

What's the record for consecutive games with 4 or fewer hits? I like our chances.

Sandy helped write the book on advanced stats.....if so, whats the book say to do when your team is next to last in virtually every advanced offensive stat  (and traditional ones as well)......i suppose all we can do is give thanks to the padres.

Wait a second...the bereavement list is designed to eliminate a team playing shorthanded....yesterday Colon was put on the list, and yet yesterday we had to play short handed none the less.....why.....a result of having the triple a team on the other side of the continent.

They are going to be so buried after this road trip its not funny. ANd SA should be called front and center why he is the only GM in the game that cant go out and get a bat. Even though he has a ton of talent to trade.

Five straight games without getting 5 hits?

Don't worry Mets fans! Sandy's plan is working!

In case you missed it, it's fairly impossible to tie a game late when the only run a team scores is the first run of the game....

@Leif Granlind i'm really excited to see them friday...i hope they win, but realistically i have a legit shot at seeing a perfect game with kershaw pitching.

Trade dreck for Castro? Why hasn't anyone thought of that before? Sheer genius.

@Zac Tindall in OUR year..the FUTURE year..Granderson hitting 3rd? Rather stop watching the team altogether. Otherwise not bad.

During Sandy's reign, he has put together teams that have won between 74 and 79 games each year.  This is on pace to be another one of those.

Won lost record is no better, no worse, than the last few years.  But he is compiling these losing records for less and less money.  Maybe Fred is happy.

It will take some bold moves, and likely money, to get enough offense to have a winning record next year.  It's hard to imagine them coming through.

@Paul LeBarron Here's why: The overriding factor is payroll. We aren't adding any, so who are you going to get? Only a very young player. In that case, teams hope spring eternal and they want a ton back. There are plenty of hitters around if you are willing to spend money. Unfortunately, this team is going to be mired at below .500 for several years.

@xplr Nobody has done 6 such games in a row since 1900.  Another record in sight.

Herrera is a 2b.He can play ss but better suited for 2b.wonder what Mets will do with Murphy this offseason.

matt greco

@rico @shea no, he isn't.  he's 100% correct, gary and keith said as much during the game...colon had to leave at 8am, they had no time to get an extra player there from vegas to put him on the bereavement list yesterday.
