What’s on tap for the Mets today, besides the Harlem Shake…

The Mets open their 2013 season today at 1 pm against the Padres in Citi Field.

Jon Niese starts for the Mets. RHP Edinson Volquez starts for San Diego.

The Mets are 33-18 on Opening Day, which is the best winning percentage in the majors.

I love Opening Day. However, my wife and I are having our second baby tomorrow, so today will be the first time I’ve missed attending Opening Day in 16 years. Thankfully, MetsBlog’s Michael Baron will be out at Citi Field live blogging photos for the blog; and I’ll be relaying news, notes and quotes from SNY’s on-air caravan of coverage, which starts at 11:30 am, featuring a variety of guests from Bobby Valentine to Edgardo Alfonzo to John Franco. I can’t wait to get started…

In the meantime, there is this, which has me totally speechless…. yes, it’s the Mets doing the Harlem Shake, dressed as mascots, in the clubhouse, featuring a very giddy Jay Horwitz, as well as cameos from Jeff Wilpon, David Wright and others… again, I’m without speech..
