SS Ramirez would be perfect fit for this team, they have got 0 production form the SS position and Ramirez is hitting .300 with 7 HRs and 35 RBI's playing solid defense, Chi Sox need pitching and the Mets have the depth to give them what they need

I did not like what Keith Hernandez had to say about Murphy. He is a good second baseman. I would not ever think that keith was a Met player, the way he talks bout this team. He is always saying how great the other team players are. I am proud of the Mets. They do not give up. Every day the line up is changed there are only two people on the team that are in the same spots for a game.

"Murph's not a second baseman." - Keith Hernandez.

Fairly blunt assessment. Can't disagree too much with it, Keith would know.

Again, fundamentals!!

@Father Dooley: Prayer is defined as how to do nothing, but still think you're helping. Don't pray for the Mets, it wont ever help.

Niese pitching so there's a chance. If Granderson keeps getting on and with Wright showing new life, we'll see.

Can any team be offensively-challenged for half of a season and still be viable? If the offense picks up, maybe the second half will be interesting.

How energizing to the team (and the fans) will it be if management does something pro-active right now to show that they care about more than frugality!

Shame how this team has destroyed David wright's career.

At least he'll have 100's of millions.....

Thanks Wilpons for killing my love of baseball....

After over 40 years as a Mets fan I cannot wait for the Knicks season to start.

I despise Terry Collins. Hope never to see him in a mets uniform ever again after this year. He is ruining the younger players. Where is the uniformity? Where is the continuity? Where is it? I know we don't have good players but its what you do with what you have and TC has not done it.

Met win today coupled with an Atlanta loss would put us a mere 4 1/2 games out of first, that would be amazing, given the season so far.

Collins is no LaRussa... Another game batting the pitcher 8th.

Besides, we can give up half of what we had to give up in the winter for cargo. I still would rather Stanton or Goldschmidt.

Kyle Suta

Why not go all out and trade for a big bat? Even if you fail this year the bat they get will be here for a couple more years like cargo or whoever is available.

This game today has to be taken care of. You have your ace on the mound against a non-prospect young kid. The mets need this one. If they somehow lose this game they will probably drop the next two to oakland.

This could be the beginning of a WAKE UP for the Mets. Now is the time to get the BIG BAT we have been waiting for, to ensure a playoff spot promised to David Wright. We shale see.

@John Schod Do u really think with their track record they r going to do anything?  Even by some miracle if they made an effort there r currently 18 teams in serious contention for the playoffs so there will be that much less talent available with twice as much competition for it.

Waiting for the Knicks season may not improve your disposition!

@Dr. Jonathan Reefer There is no "momentum" in baseball. All teams, not just the Mets, alter lineups depending on the next day's pitching matchup, or keep the same lineup again depending on the pitching matchup. There is indeed someone in this conversation who does not know baseball - his blog name is Dr. Jonathan Reefer.

LOL. How about that "5", "6" and "7"? All of those guys are 8th place hitters in a good lineup.

Wow.

Over the past several seasons, There have been critical junctions before the all-star break that management has sat on its hands refusing to bring in bullpen help or a needed power bat. Alot of the vitriole on this blog has surrounded this lack of steerage at the critical stages of the last several seasons. A successful franchise can't be solely based upon who are we going to dump in July.

Wouldn't it be a refreshing change to make a couple of intelligent moves to inspire the team and the fans for THIS year. As Jose Reyes said in an interview this week, it is one thing to plan for the future and another for just kicking the can a little farther down for road!

@1harris1 C'mon now we all know the 8 hole belongs to the pitcher in good lineups. Its the way it has been done for years with tons of proven success. Oh and have you checked out the new Collins Wheel for your car, yea they're great instead of circles they're squares

You're telling me, I want d'arnaud back already! And Lagares is coming back this week so we'll be at full strength by midweek so if the bats get going, and the bullpen hangs tough, who knows?

Kyle Suta

I bet the only move we will make is to trade away colon.

Kyle Suta

Tulo isn't going anywhere. Also, the marlins would never trade Stanton to the mets and won't even trade him until he becomes expensive.

@Dr. Jonathan Reefer Right, I know nothing of baseball. Only been following the Mets since '68. Little story - 1978; Red Sox have a huge lead on the Yankees. They collapse and end up in a tie with the Yankees. One game playoff. Every NY baseball fan knows this story. I'm not describing anything new. Anyway, went to Fenway for the game - couldn't get in of course - watched it in a bar next door. The Sox had played essentially the same 8 guys through the course of a hot summer. Don Zimmer, manager of the Sox, is excoriated by fans, the media, everyone for playing the same lineup, day after day after day. That's what you want TC to do - Zimmer did that and the fans blamed him for the collapse. Of course other fans, if he had rested some of his guys, would have excoriated him for not having his best guys in the lineup. They lost and the manager got blamed. And everyone thought they knew more about baseball than Zimmer. And if Zimmer had just done what they thought he should do, the Sox wouldn't have collapsed. I don't think TC is a great manager, but he still knows a helluva lot more than you do. And claiming that he knows nothing of the game just makes you look foolish. Criticize away, call for his replacement - fine. I understand that's the purpose of a blog. But don't claim that changing lineups indicates that he knows nothing of the game. Again, you just end up looking foolish.

@citifield @greekgod As bad as the rest of the league is we are in last place especially in the National East!!! This is horrible...Horrible!

@citifield @greekgod Don't think that is good it only breeds unrest to all including fans and media. Its a smoke screen at best.
