In case you missed it…

The Brewers rallied to score three runs in the fifth inning and beat the Mets, 5-2, on Saturday at Miller Park.

The Mets are 4-5 on their current road trip through San Diego, Seattle and Milwaukee.

Daisuke Matsuzaka was put on disabled list Saturday with inflammation in his pitching elbow.

Buddy Carlyle was promoted to take Matsuzaka’s spot on the roster.

Win today, decent road trip. That Edgin game rankles, but splitting the games sort of is not surprising with pitchers off injuries, All Star Break rust & some young / tough pitching to face.

What's the old adage? Play .500 on the road and win most of your games at home? This road trip wouldn't be terrible if we can win tonight and play well at Citi.

AS of now, our draft pick would not be protected next year if we signed a free agent.  We have the 10th worst record, but because the Houston Astros did not sign their 1st round pick this year they slot in for another pick in the top 10, knocking us out.  Ok boys, it is either time to start winning and win a WC or start losing a lot.  I don't want "draft pick compensation" to be the excuse we dont sign a premium FA this offseason.

OT: A poster pointed out last night that ex-Met Nick Evans helped the D'Backs secure a win with a 3-run HR.  What did he get for his efforts?  Shaving creme pie?  Nope  Gatorade bath?  unh-unh  He got....HIS UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE so he could sign with the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the Japanese League.

SMH...baseball must be the worst kind of grind if you aren't in the upper 40% of the league.

Odd, isn't it, that a youngster like deGrom shows more coolness under duress than a veteran like Niese.

The Mets have now scored 3 runs or fewer in 8 straight games on this road trip.  The last time the Mets scored 3 or fewer in at least 8 games in a row on a single road trip was way back in 1972, when they scored 3 or fewer for 10 games in a row from July 14 through July 27.

Lets go deGrom - be a stopper, and get us to .500 for the road trip! (Mind you, he'll probably have to drive in the runs we score)

@mr met Time for them to care more about the MLB team and less about unpredictable draft picks. This isn't the NBA. Drafting in the first round isn't as important.

@hankypanky deGrom, the guy many felt would be okay to trade over Montero.  Now, Montero is sort of the forgotten man.  Nice surprise.
