What’s on tap for Sunday, July 13

Today at 1:10 pm ET on SNY, the Mets conclude their three-game series – and the first half of their season – against the Marlins at Citi Field.

Jacob deGrom (2-5, 3.38 ERA) will start for the Mets against Marlins LHP Brad Hand (0-1, 5.09).

Daniel Murphy is scheduled to get today off in advance traveling to Minnesota to play in the All-Star Game.

Later in the day, Mets prospects RHP Noah Syndergaard and C Kevin Plawecki will represent the Mets in today’s SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at 5 p.m. ET on FOX.

In case you missed it

Yesterday at Citi Field, Chris Young had a pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning, followed by a game-breaking pinch-hit single in the eighth inning by Eric Campbell as the Mets beat the Marlins, 5-4.

The Mets have won seven of nine games on their current homestand.

Jeremy Hefner pitched a perfect inning for the Gulf Coast League Mets in his first outing since having Tommy John surgery last summer.

My biggest fear is that the Wilpons and Alderson will do nothing to improve this team.  Don't want to be stuck with Collins or Rubin for another year . Hope they don't give Chris Young a long term deal because of his homerun .. If he's cheap they might do it scary !

Mets have a chance to sweep the Marlins and get into 3rd place and then after the all star break they play a lousy Padres team..

It is not inconceivable that depending on how Atlanta/Washington plays..the Mets can find themselves right back in the race...if this happens...we will see whether the Wilpons/Sandy are true to their word or the phonies and liars that most of us believe that they are...

I am voting on them being phonies and liars...lets see what happens...I hope I am wrong

Sorry, but if any of you are actually satisfied with Tejada hitting .240 and getting lauded for doing things any pitcher can do (bunt or get an occasional hit), you have been mired in mediocrity too long. I don't dislike Tejada (And I am still ill over how the front office treated him this past off-season), but he's essentially had his job by default from the beginning, because we let Jose walk. If the Mets had the money to pay Reyes, we'd never know who Ruben Tejada was. He's a nice, quiet kid and isn't a bad ball player, but what he offers simply isn't enough to be a major league shortstop in NYC. If Wilmer Flores had been further along in the system when Jose left, Tejada would still be playing in Las Vegas. Look at the way Wilmer is hitting in AAA - 17 game hitting streak, driving in runs nightly, and hitting home runs. Tejada gives you none of that. If nothing else, Wilmer has earned the opportunity to come up to the Mets and play every day for a few weeks, to see if he can turn it on up here, too.

I wish Mets season was 'half over' with 44 wins.

My guess for todays lineup is

Granderson

Lagares

Wright

Campbell

d'Arnaud

C. Young

Tejeda

deGrom

E. Young

So Murphy can't play a 1:00 game Sunday because he might play an inning or two on Tuesday night? I don't see the logic there.

This team can be so good - and so much fun - if they just hit. On all cylinders right now - gives me hope (again!)

EY at second leading off today and CY in left. Probably also Campbell at first

Uh, guess we were both wrong. Just saw the lineup on ESPN New York. It's

Granderson

Campbell

Wright

Duda

Lagares

CY

Recker

Tejada

DeGrom

Seriously doubt he'll let EY play 2nd base. Campbell will be playing 2nd base. Despite Duda struggling against lefties he'll probably keep him in the lineup. My guess is

Granderson

Lagares

Campbell

Wright

Duda

d'Arnaud

CY

deGrom

Tejada

@William Bonilla  CY will definitely start today. Terry must be a genius since he is the only manager to bat the pitcher eighth. Personally, I find it to be a rally-killer.

@uga_met  yea me too....hopefully deGrom can shut down the fish and the Mets pull out the sweep without Murph....it will be huge to go into the break off a sweep and winning 6 of 7 in division

Batting the pitcher eighth is old news. LaRussa, along with others, did it all the time.

@cleonsvan It's not like he has to answer to us.
