The Mets are considering promoting Triple-A OF Matt den Dekker, Terry Collins said Saturday. Den Dekker is currently second in the Pacific Coast League with a .329 batting average.

Teams expressed interest in acquiring a Mets reliever before the non-waiver trade deadline, and at least two teams showed interest in Daniel Murphy, but Sandy Alderson said he had no interest in breaking up the big-league roster.

The METS are pitiful. I would start by  trading David Wright, Ruben Tejada and Chris Young. Wright has done nothng and his best days are behind him. His best days were not even that good. He is so overrated. Tejada is terrible and Young strikes out to much. I would package in Bartolo Colon as well. I look at the METS lineup and it is a minor league team with no upside. If I  was a pitcher, I would have no worries facng that lineup. They are just terrible. Sandy Alderson should be fired along with Terry Collins for assembling that group of players. You have to be kidding when Duda is your best offensive player, you have to wonder what these guys are thinking. The METS have no life, no spirit and no enthusiasim. You never see any players running, trying to steal a base. Ths is conservative baseball. They are lifeless. This is coming from Collins, who is lifeless in the dugout. He needs to light a fire under those players, including Wright. I saw Wright get 2 hits against the Giants. Both just made it over the infielders head. I would never pay money to see a live MET game. So METS got 2 hits today...WOW. I don't know of any team that has more inferior quality starting players.

FIRE ALL OF THEM!!!! THEY SUCK!!!

Disgusted Lifelong MET fan!

I don't understand what this man is doing with this lineup. Are we happy with one win or we're playing for a possible wildcard birth? WTF Terry?

You have to look to move Bartolo during August if nothing else to free up $ for next year.  Personally, as much as I like Murph (having written that many times on this site), I would have tried to package him and Gee for a bat.  I would do the same in the off-season.  By all accounts, Herrera sounds like the real deal.  Murph just isn't a 8 figure a year guy and I'd rather re-deploy the $ elsewhere.  I'd go after the Cuban kid for LF, make a legitimate play for Tulo (at a reasonable price) and then we should be set to make a legit run in 2015.  I think we saw at the deadline how valuable prospects are and that is why the trades involved major league talent for major league talent.  This is why Murph, Gee, and Niese can become targets in the offseason.  With Harvey, Wheeler, Thor, DeGrom, Montero, Matz there are replacements in the wings.  I'm very excited and encouraged for the future!

As crazy as this sounds, I think come September the Mets are only a game or so out of the wild card.

They play 17 games against division leaders or wildcard contenders this month. I'm not saying they're going to win all of them, but if they can win the two Nat series, I have a strong suspicion they'll be within 2 of the wildcard by 9/1.

if that's the case, whoa boy what a september it's going to be.

I'd really like to see the Mets bats come alive tonight.  Last night was a feel good game and they finally broke through at the end but this offense essentially had 2 hits over a 15 inning span.

On another note, I hope Collins rewards Duda and lets him start against a tough lefty.  If Duda can figure out how to hit lefties than he is too valuable of a bat to platoon with another player.  After his July Duda has earned the opportunity to play against some lefties.

Who was the Mets reliever that teams expressed interest in? Black? Torres?

Another week and we will have a better picture of this team. Are they ready to make a run or are they just  on a streak. Washington has had our number so far this year.

I have faith in Colon but I am worried about Gee going up against Hudson tomorrow...

We really need to win the next 2. Cannot half the series and continue 4 games under. If they want any shot at the postseason, (which I know is a very big stretch) they gotta start winning some more series'.

So this means CY is gone... right? I can see them sending down Flores and still keeping Bobby and CY... Unnecessary

Nice to have the chance to have the chance...

Keep Abreu cut CY.

I know it sounds crazy but a split in this Giants series. 2 out of 3 in Washington, a sweep of the Phillies, and then another 2 out of 3 at home against Washington would put us in a great spot. It's gonna be extremely tough but it'd be nice to see it happen.

Tejada is batting .500 against bum garner.

Just kidding.

This is about as bad a lineup as u can throw out there. TC really knows how to kill the momentum.

I agree with playing Duda. And if he plays today over Campbell just watch the reaction.

If the Mets finish with 84 wins, they would have played .600 ball for the entire second half and would likely have the 2-3rd record in the ML for that period. Does it meet the 90 from Sandy? Nah, but hard to argue that it would not represent solid momentum going into next year playoffs or not. They are not contenders this year, so the best outcome is positive steps towards contention in 2015. Going 15-10 for July was a first step and if they can play well in August and Sept, the season will have benefit short of desired results.

Can't win unless we score runs. I am more worried about offense.

Get rid of both.

I doubt it happens but imagine the Mets actually make the playoffs this year....I would go nuts....it's a long shot but still within the realm of possibilities....how crazy would that be

Matt why no mention of Wilmer yesterday in your post game blog????

The only defense I can muster, and it's Devils advocate, is that Bumgarner cruises through lefties... Duda is anemic against LHP, and if you're gonna rest Murph, today is the day.

If someone told you, Mets would be playing an important series against the WC leaders, you would crap yourself with a lineup that consists of #2 Tejada, Cleanup Campbell, #5 C Young and Flores Recker Colon rounding out 7,8 & 9.... They might get no hit today

BronsonSNY

@theglider Campbell isn't a bad alternative. He is a Met who can actually muster a hit before the six inning.

@William Bonilla U truly think 37-15 is "within the realm of possibilities"?  They've played 2/3 of the year at 4 games under .500 now u think they can go 22 games over? With this lineup?  I have to admire your enthusiasm.  There is no possible way that is going to happen especially w DW hitting .120 in his last 7 games!

Vee!

@Michael Jacoutot Murph getting the day off really messes up the #2 hole but like I'd much rather see Lagares there than Tejada at this point

@Steve Finelli @William Bonilla ya gotta believe!

Long shots are literally what makes rooting for the Mets so enjoyable/unbearable. Hell if you didn't like being the longshot, there's another team just a borough over that would give you more enjoyment.

I don't think it will take 90 wins to make the playoffs....the NL is very weak and most of the teams in front of the Mets are slowing down with the exception of the Pirates....like I said I doubt it happens but it is possible....better chance than the Phillies and Rockies had in 07

C'mon, man! We are the miracle Mets, the Amazins'

22 games over...Fuggettaboutitttttt...

Seriously though,it is a long shot,I agree but stranger things have happened.

Let's just worry about taking care of these Giants in front of us and going from there.

Side note:deGrom has been friggin amazing,I've loved this dude since his first start and could never imagine he would impress us all in such a way as he has.Absolutely stellar.ROY
