What makes it worse, is there appears to be room for error in the division this year, and yet the Mets have made that margin even more razor thing.

My take on the standings so far:

Braves - I hate them so much I love them. #Consistency

Nationals - Maybe Davey Johnson wasn't that bad last year after all #Underachievers

Marlins - Give me a firesale every 5 years if you can put together a winner in no time  #Overreaction

Phillies - What got into this team, and can it get into the Mets? #BadButARecentChampionship

Mets - No comment  #Incompetence

Here we go again with nitwit Collins--  Captain Kirk on fire in triple a is called hits a rocket getting a pinch hit double last night,  and Collins has him riding the pine while playing C. Young.   He has done this with everyone which is why none of our players ever succeed when called up.

This is utterly ridiculous already,

The sad thing is that the METS have become the NL version of the Red Sox, pre-2004. We won the WS in 1986, yes, it has been that long, we made it back in 2000, but the Yanks took care of us. We made the playoffs in 2006 and collapsed in 2007 and 2008. This team is always finding new ways to crush and destroy the fans, yet, we still support them. I think we are cursed, the baseball gods and getting blood from us for the miracle Mets of 1969 and the Buckner Ball of 1986, it will be a very long time before we celebrate a WS win again :{

way too many games WPIX this year. This is the most I can remember. Leave it to SNY and leave it alone

It's really a shame that the Mets are wasting all these years of a mediocre NL East and pretty much forfeiting every season. 85-88 wins could win this division. It's a shame.

A bat last year and a bat this year would have done this team wonders. That's what I thought the "plan" was. Instead, nothing.

Here is the thing, why are there so many Yankees fans around, it's simple, the Yanks don't give up the fans or the team, like the METS do. The Yanks will get any player or players they need to win, that gives Yankee fans hope. What do the METS do, they sign one player and forget about all the other holes in the team, and, them are surprised when the team can't win :{ What is wrong with them, they have done NOTHING to give the fans hope at all, what did they do in this off season? They are 5 steps behind and they take 1 or 2 steps and are happy with that, WRONG APPROACH!! If you have 5 holes you have to fill at least 3 or 4 of them before you can sit back. I think it our fault as fans, we have allowed this level of incompetence for years, we have to stand up and say ENOUGH! We demand a 500 team to start, a team that will be in it, until the end. Enough with the "prospects and over the hill or bargain pile players. We demand real MLB players, even average players, that would be better than old guys and unproven young players. I want average, to start, and we can move on once we get there. this sub 500 garbage has got to END NOW!!

1. E. Young   LF

2. Grandy      RF

3. Wright       3B

4. Duda         1B

5. d'Arnaud      C

6. Murphy      2B

7. Largares     CF

8. Tejada        SS

9. Pitcher

I know, everyone hates it.......Just trying to protect d'Arnaud and get him going when he gets back. If he can hit half as well as he is in AAA, he can drive in runs.  If Murphy is going to get 190 hits, then he'll drive in more in the 6 hole than he will in the 2 hole.

What's the saying.....making a silk purse out of a sow's ear ???

Is there anyone waiting, ready (or even willing) to step into TC's position?

This team is soft like Charmin.  And fundamentally stupid to boot.

Why haven't the Mets pursued Brennan Boesch? He's 29, a big lefty corner outfielder with power to all fields, he can run, has a big arm, shaky in the field but less of a concern with our good gloves in center. He is crushing the ball in Salt Lake and would protect David Wright and take the pressure off Granderson. Should have grabbed him before the Angels did.....Sandy, get Brennan Boesch!!

Quote of the week:

"Let's use this as a starting point. Let's go win 10 in a row"-Terry Collin, after Bartolo's gem vs the Cards

I imagine the entire clubhouse rolled their eyes upon hearing that one.... Like, Yeeeeaaaaahhhh oooookkkkk Terry

I can think of literally 1000 other things to do on this beautiful Saturday than watch this train wreck bush league team

Nothing more fun than seeing your team in last place!

Terry Collins, keeps saying they are one big hit away from winning these games...SO! when are we going to get that "one big hitter?"

It is plain and simple, THIS TEAM STINKS!!! What is wrong wit the METS? I look at the Yanks, they have a team full of overpaid and over the hill players, but, they still manage win? Thee METS are just the opposite, they have team full of young players and "prospects" and all they can manage is finding ways to lose? It is official now, I have given up on this team for a second year in a row :{ I saved some money and canceled my MLB extra Innings and changed my homepage from METS.com, I just cannot deal with this for another season. All I ask for is a team that can compete and is fun to watch, not this garbage that they run out on the field game after game. I hope I can make it out of June in 2015? Have a great season of excuses and loss after loss, it has got to stop, but when and how????

Flores...how about his one at bat last night....bat looked like it weighed 100 pounds again, strikes out on 3 pitches...this guy.

What a loss; it's really exciting baseball though if your not a fan of the Mets. I watched the game last night, it was sad. You could really tell Gary Cohen didn't want to believe that Kirk was out at home. After the loss hopped in the car to go to work and the fan was on from earlier. Beltran hits a walk off homerun before I can even get out of my apartment complex and all I can think is that's the difference between the yanks and the entity we are calling our major league baseball team.

The Yankees are one of the richest franchises on the planet, and the only major league club that comes close is the Dodgers. Spending and buying your way Ito a championship is a Yankee trademark. Personally, I prefer high-caliber organizations like the Cardinals, who combine smart baseball brains and player selection with wiser ways of spending than the Yankees. In the end, the Wilpons will never sell. That leaves us with the possibility that Alderson will be replaced some day with a more discerning baseball mind, but still working under the Wilpon's stranglehold on the club.

@Albert E Lewis Don't think of it as last place.  Think of it as "close" to not being in last place.

The truth is that there will not be a true hitter down the pike. Gee and Harvey are recovering. That leaves Wheeler and Niese as primary targets in a package, with Colon and Matsuzaka not far behind. I have to laugh when bloggers offer junk in return for Stanton.

I can't kill Flores for that. He's lost his timing because of the way he's been used. It's unrealistic to expect a 22 year old to succeed in the role of part time player/late game pinch hitter. He needs to play regularly somewhere.

Agreed but what's the Cardinal payroll? 140m?
