In case you missed it

Travis d’Arnaud went 3-for-5 and drove in the tie-breaking run in the ninth as the Mets beat the Padres, 5-4, Friday at Petco Park.

Also in the NL East, the Nationals and Marlins lost, while the Braves defeated the Phillies.

Daisuke Matsuzaka is headed to the bullpen, in advance of Jon Niese likely joining the rotation later this week. However, Matsuzaka is not expected to pitch the next few days, just in case Niese has a set back.

I think the Mets should do after Tulowitzki now or this offseason.

Trade Wheeler or Syndergaard, deGrom or Montero, and Plawecki for Tulowitzki.

Imagine this line up.

Granderson

Murphy

Wright

Tulowitzki

Duda

d'Arnaud

Lagares

Nieuwenhuis

With pitching of Colon (2014) Harvey (2015) Wheeler or Syndergaard, Niese, Gee, deGrom or Montero. Bullpen of Parnell (2015) Mejia, Familia, Black, and Edgin.

That is a team that could win right away.

The Brewers, who are 54-43 have a run differential of +19. The Mets, who are 46-50 have a run differential of +20. Where are our wins?

One of these days, the Braves are going to lose a game on the same day the Mets win one and we will inch closer in the GB column. Might not happen today, or in this roadstand even, but it will.

I keep waiting for the Nats to take this division and run away with it, still waiting. The Braves just don't impress me much. Hopefully the Nats don't wake up

The Mets have currently held the opposition to 5 or fewer runs in 18 games in a row.  That's the longest such streak for the Mets in 30 years -- the last time the Mets had a longer such streak was May/June 1984.  The Mets team record for such a streak is 24 games, from late in the 1977 season through the beginning of the 1978 season.

Sometimes Terry makes mistakes. Like our other inexperienced major leaguers, he's learning. Perhaps he too will come into his own along with the d'Arnauds and deGroms of the world.

Seems like it would be the minimum requirement to have a blog, right? Turns out it's not. Having the foresight to buy a great domain name is.
