Why play Lagares when we have bobby Abreu???

Looks like Wright's shoulder just needing rest, is going down the road we all knew it would, he's not playing today and looks to be going on the DL. Hopefully isn't not like Davis' "bruised" ankle, or like Delgado's "bruised" hip all those years ago.

Sandy Alderson would do good to take some lessons from the late great Frank Cashen.

No hitter on July 4th.  Perfect.

Darn rain pushed Darvish forward a day.  How many will stick around for the fireworks?

Why bother bringing Wright back vs Yu Darvish? They don't stand a chance and may as well give him another day. Plus that's not a guy to come back against to get yourself going again.

Trade everybody.....blow this team up and start all over. We've been sold a Bill of Goods when it comes to our so-called pitching. This guys great.....that guy's great...blah, blah, blah. They end up being average pitchers. Meanwhile other teams, bring up guys who we've never heard of, and they blow our pitchers away.

Hitler said " if you tell a big lie enough times, people will believe it." That's what happened to us

perfect storm. . . can you say no-no

Which contract do u think is really worse?  The $60 mil the Yanks owe Arod or the $122 mil the Mets owe David Wright?  Don't be so quick to answer.  Before all u Yankee haters answer consider the following.....Wright is only 31 but is already in the throes of a 3 yr decline in his OPS AND fielding#'s while showing an alarming increasing propensity for injury all while supposedly in the prime age yrs of his career.  The Mets will be eating a ton of this K on the back end!

Over/Under on how many Mets K today.  I say the # is 13.

Good morning, whiners! What trades do we have in store for us today? Hmm. Stanton for Duda should do it.

After this steel cage match, one of these two teams will have 38 wins.  The Mets didn't lose yesterday, so I'm giving the nod to them.

I see a pitching duel...hopefully not a 2-1 loss.

Instead of attending games at Citifield, we the Mets fans, should boycott the games because they're unwatchable anyway, and take up a collection to donate to The Wilpons and Sandy, so they can get Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomás, because the way it looks, we’ll never get a real hitter for our lineup any other way.

Niese throws a gem tonight, and the Mets lose 2-0.

Enjoy your 4th everybody!

Another boring start to yet another series.Although Texas has been decimated by injury's, at least they still have Darvish and other exciting players to watch.

We,have a AAA softie squad with an mental midget manager and a pompous Ahole of an GM who has totally alienated this fan base.

All is great in Mets land though,there's fireworks tonight!

Wouldn't be surprised if Darvish threw a no hitter tonight (if they even play)

Happy 4th of July,fellow suffering Met Fans.

“We have to quit worrying about the standings.” - Terry Collins.  Translation: The Mets really suck and Terry is a permanent fixture until Sandy leaves at the end of the year to replace good old Bud Selig.

Perhaps years down the road we will find out that Terry was betting against the Mets. At least that would make sense as to why he seems to not give a poo when they lose. I've never seen a manager act so carefree after a loss. The only time he ever shows emotion is when people question his in-game moves or the status of his job. Otherwise its all just another wonderful day in Terryville... Do yourselves a favor and vote with your wallets.

We are playing the Rangers at Citi and there is no Nolan Ryan bobblehead day? Does anyone on this team know how to market?

SA love's his team to get walks because if you make an analogy of walks to money, they're free.  Also, walks don't pad stats and raise players salaries.

Agreed. Adam Rubin reporting Wright said he made throws from third and hit in cages which went OK. Apparently, TC said with wet field conditions they couldn't test him fully in field. Wright was seen doing warm up drills in pouring rain, so I think he believes he can play.

Might be smart. DW coming off a week off due to injury isn't going to keep team from losing against Darvish. probably afraid they'll have rain delays and Wright might have trouble staying warmed up. He was also injured sliding on wet track, so it's not worth the risk. He can get extra day and ease into baseball activities which he apparently hasn't done in a week.

Hard to imagine Mets might be doing the right thing and not fear worst with any a Mets injuries. Just too much really, really bad history.

@Steve Finelli  I say a sht-load,more than 10 for sure.

I've predicted a Darvish no-hitter tonight.

@jrb74  Considering the Mets didn't play yesterday,and no game ball could be given to the opposing team,maybe todays game ball can go to us,Matt.

The Mets Faithful,that day in and day out still watch and follow this team on Metsblog.

Just a thought.

@Anthony Giammattei R u kidding? Who needs Tomas when Brandon Nimmo will be here in 2018!  By that time Jose Fernandez will have 3 CY's! and Brndon Nimmo will have 3 Player of the Weeks in the Eastern League!

ShawnP

@1harris1  I'd be surprised if the Mets scored 2 runs let alone getting 2 hits tonight against Darvish.

Niese,should keep us in it though-he's been pretty great all season.

Enjoy you're 4th too,buddy.

@Wayno  GM's across the league are always spinning some kind of moves to try and better their ball club.

Our GM,only spins lies and BS to us.So much spin around here I'm friggin dizzy already.

Enough!

@Wayno  That's why it's not worth getting angry over this nonsense.  Since the owners apparently don't give a damn, why should we?

If that's your attitude, then you deserve this team.

"I've never seen a manager act so carefree after a loss." - I so totally agree. I've been saying the same thing myself for quite awhile now. Some of these players seem to be a reflection of TC. Read the players reactions when they commit an error or two (physical or mental,) and their typical, emotionless responses are: "unfortunately, errors are part of the game,"  "I just have to do a better job next time," or one of TC's favorite lines "Tomorrow is another day, and we just have to perform better and try and win." Not exact quotes, but you get the idea, right?

@ShawnP @Wayno  It's gotten to the point where I turn the sound down anytime Alderson comes on the television or radio.  Just tired of the condescending attitude and outright lies.  He's not the primary problem with the franchise, but he is a problem.

ShawnP
ShawnP

@1harris1 @Wayno  You make a great point.

And,as the fraud has said already "we aren't going to make any moves,just for the sake of making a move".

I wouldn't expect anything coming down the pike in terms of moves.

ShawnP

@buckets  I don't think its just me.

I see you haven't kicked drinking the Mets kool-aid yet.

And yes,that is my attitude after losing & losing & continuing to lose.

All with a Owner,GM and manager that don't give a spit about us or how this team performs.

ShawnP
ShawnP

@1harris1 @ShawnP @Wayno  I agree.

At this point he's better off saying NOTHING.

But,as we know,he's the Wilpons mouth-piece from which they hide behind.

@ShawnP @buckets I actually struggle between preferring to see them win or lose.  In a perfect world, I prefer to see the kids, DeGrom, Wheeler, d'Arnaud, Legeras, do well, Wright and Granderson perform because they are here for a while, Niese and Gee perform, the youngsters in the bullpen progress, and the rest like Duda and both Youngs fail miserably so they can't be sold as big leaguers any more.  The mediocre play just gives Alderson an excuse not to make any real changes.

I keep seeing these high priced pitchers like Tanaka, Grienke and Darvish dominate and it frustrates me that the Mets will never give out that kind of contract to build on a strength by just spending money so they can trade some of the young guys for real hitters and not just keep talking about the potential of the young guys.  Whose to say it won't take 3 or 4 more years for Wheeler and Syndergaard to actually contribute?  Let alone the disaster of a call up that Montero was.

Who is drinking look aid? If you think the Mets' rightful place is last then this is the team you deserve. Sorry you feel that way.

Happy 4th.

ShawnP

@buckets  Yes,with this squad these incompetent Owners and GM put together that's what they get.

The basement.

What I and all of us die-hard,loyal Mets fans "deserve"is a winning team already.And a FO that actually gives a sht about the product they are putting out on the field, and yet, expecting hard working people to spend their money for their outrageous prices.
