Colon v. Burnett.  Who will destroy their trade value more tonight?

I thought Flores could not play defense? Bobby O raved about his defense yesterday.

Even if we add one great bat this off season (which is doubtful), that does not transform this line up. There are too many mediocre offensive players. We are NOT one or even two good bats away from being an offensive force.

We are so starved for offense, out of contention, yet Flores continues to not get a real shot at playing everyday. What makes even less sense, is they will play him occasionally at short, but not everyday. If he is good enough once in a while why not EVEN TRY him everyday. It is just totally contradictory and stupid.

Congratulations on getting the score of yesterday's game wrong again. If I could give you the game ball I would.

The Mets are now minus one in run differential for the year.  Now do you believe this is an above .500 team Mr. Alderson?

Perhaps you wish to quote the fan base with another arcane and irrelevant statistic to support you inaction with free agency and the trade market this year.

Lets get rid of the Yankee too.........Wright as well.

There comes a point in time when you just have to cut bait

Let's get all of those young pitchers either back healthy or some more experience all at once before we send them walking, by the way, which isn't for another 4 or 5 years. Sandy gets this winter yet to upgrade the offense in a big way. If he fails to do so, then I'll agree with you. Collins, though, should be gone. He's not a good game manager. Sure, he keeps them playing hard, but there's more to it than that. To keep sending Tejeda out there and having Flores rot on the bench is ludicrous. And running CY or EY out to leftfield all the time is ridiculous.

Yesterdays game is the perfect example of why SA has to go in a different direction offensively. They were unable to scratch a run across because they are built to hit homers and when they don't they lose.

No hitting.  One hit between the 7th and 13th inning. But did we do anything to get anyone?  No!!!   How do the Yankees get Prado?  Why weren't we in on those discussions.  Not that Prado is the answer, but he was someone that gave us flexibility in the future and a better line-up today.  Very poor management.

WRIGHT and MURPHY will stay as they are company men, but the others don't really want to bolt anywhere because they will either be bench/role players or DFA by other teams...that's how bad this line-up is.

Pitchers like HARVEY, deGROM, WHEELER should already be plotting their escape from the METS...if I were them I'm out first chance I get.

This team isn't going anywhere as presently constituted...as long as they continue with their penny pinching ways we will be a good pitching ball club with NO BATS!

@Joe DeRosa  He also flashed some really nice leather and range when he played 2B recently.

@upstaphan  Um, by definition it transforms the lineup and makes it better.  Mind you, we aren't going to upgrade just one position.  It is almost impossible NOT to upgrade over Tejada and Young, given the poor seasons they have had.  Also, add in a full season from Duda, hopefully a full season of an improved TDA, and (please oh please) Wright regaining some of his skills.

@upstaphan Two really good bats would do it. I just can't see the Mets investing any money into this team this offseason.

@matmil Built to hit home runs? What team are you watching? The Mets have had maybe 4 players over the past 6 years who hit 20+ HRs.

Tarheel11

@matmil That's SA's philosophy. He overvalues the HR and ignores the strikeouts and their effect on an offense.

Actually, it's very poor ownership. Your owners have to be willing to take on payroll in order to acquire a Prado or a like established bat. The Wilpons clearly haven't been willing to do that this entire season.

Tarheel11

@ny12jets Simple. The Yankees got Prado because they took on every penny of the approx. 25M he was owed

@Richard Alicea lagares and TdA along with Duda is what they have to build around. You have 6 Positions  filled reasonably well. Granderson may be a liability but your stuck there. With this pitching the Mets should be a contender and the reason they are not is because SA and Terrys philosophy of power hitting one base at a time offense doesn't work unless you have at least 5 posistions give you 20 homers a season. If you can't get that then you won't have enough power and end up like they did this year.I'd rather see them go for speed and contact hitting as it is more consistent and gives you a chance to win the low scoring close games like yesterdays.

Richard Alicea

I don't expect a win streak that will propel us over the 500 mark...even with the good pitching we've been getting all year, we are still a sub-500 ball club...calling a duck a duck and for SA and COLLINS to think otherwise is just insulting to the average fan.

mrgee

@upstaphan  But you still are here, so they must be doing something right...

mrgee

@nymetsrule @matmil  They might still have been built that way...they were just built that way very poorly.
