Zack Wheeler

What’s on Tap: Back in action, Mets at 1:10 p.m. on SNY

The Mets will leave Port St. Lucie one week from today, after which they’ll play in Montreal for two last exhibition games before Opening Day on March 31.

Today, the team continues their Grapefruit League season when Zack Wheeler starts against Ervin Santana and the Braves at 1:10 p.m. at Tradition Field.

The game will be broadcast live on SNY.

Ike Davis will play in today’s game, with Lucas Duda slated to start a few days later. Duda and Davis have not played in an official game since the first week of March. Terry Collins told reporters Tuesday he hopes to soon start using his projected starting lineup, while setting up his rotation and establishing roles in the bullpen.

Jon Niese is expected to resume throwing after getting an MRI and cortisone shot in his elbow earlier this week in New York.

Thoughts on whether Alderson prefers Davis over Duda, or vice versa? Or do the Mets keep whomever gets less back in a trade?

Both are just place holders until Smith is ready in a few years, I assume.

Davis and Duda better suck it up/man up and get out there!

Who will be the reserve outfielders?  I'm pulling for MDD.

@thebeast  I still don't why the Mets think so highly of Duda. He can't hit. He can't field. He's a potted plant at first base. Just because he is big doesn't mean he's a big league ballplayer.

@thebeast God I hope we don't have to live with these 2 until Smith is ready. The kid's a teenager and still like 4-5yrs away.

@thebeast Ike will get the start with Duda to Vegas as he has options...if Ike

struggles in the first thirty days and Duda is doing well at Vegas, look for Duda to take over.

I'm pulling for MDD myself, but think he has to play everyday at AAA along with Caesar Puello and then both will be called up when C Young and EYjr are traded.
