well the team needs more experience in the pitching department. aside from the pitching, they really need the bats. you can't win games if you don't put up the points. 2015? maybe they can make some noise but i am looking at 2016 if everything is done properly.

They've made the playoffs 7 times in their history and back to back once. This team is a few years away and, by then, they will lose their best players to richer contracts because they will not spend.

I don't see the mets getting into the playoffs until 3 - 4 years after the Wilpons sell the team.

At this rate, as soon as we see a new GM. The Wilpons will probably want to use a regime change to alter their approach to how they build the team. So, I'd say we might see a winning team (+.500) next season or 2016. Considering the talent in our division, maybe a playoff birth would be possible by 2020.

Next year!!! They will have Harvey back, Noah and Montero. They better bring the bats the team need.

Those poor delusional souls who think 2014 is the year.   These are the people who sit in the special needs section of Cit.

"Yaaaaahhhh..... Lets go Mets!"

the way things are it depends on injuries

with the braves and other teams sending their pitchers under the knife, this could be a good year

@AVSNY @metsblog 2016. It's shaping up to be a really busy year for me, so I predict that that's when the Mets will get their act together.

2015. I equate this season to 1983, getting the promising young arms one more year of experience. Then, sprinkle a QUALITY veteran or two to sure up the offense, a more consistent bullpen, and the Mets should be competitive (see 1984). Difference now, two wildcard berths...90 wins may get it done.

3 years after the Wilpons sell the team.

The Mets will get back to playoffs when they add legitimate bats to the lineup and have a reliable bullpen.

@mikesml  There's no point in saying that, since the Wilpons will never sell the team (in our lifetimes, anyway).

@jeffsol  You 30 to 40 somethings get really locked into 1986 being the goal.  Don't you get it?  All that building only got the Mets one World Series (which they won by divine intervention), the 1987 disaster, 1988 with Kirk Gibson, and then the aftereffects of cocaine.

It's about time we (Mets fans) finally get sustained success, not empty promises.  To expect a playoff spot with Wheeler, a first full season out of Syndergaard, and Harvey coming off TJ surgery would require some big money acquisitions and super development from some our current young players.

I say 2016 at the earliest, probably 2017.

@bburke0920 they were like the first one, so they became huge. Rubin considers his ESPN site a blog tho also. I think it's the content

@GetsThruBuckner are other blogs around the league actually associated with and plugged by the team ? Not even being sarcastic just curious?
