Scott Atchison has been placed on the disabled list, due to his elbow issues.
Update – 5:15 p.m.: Atchison officially placed on the DL, due to bone spurs aggravating nerves in his arm, Assistant GM John Ricco told reporters.
Collin McHugh has been recalled from Las Vegas and will take Atchison’s spot on the roster.
McHugh will be unavailable for Tuesday night’s game, as he threw 102 pitches in his last start on Sunday.
McHugh is 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA in eight starts with the 51s. In 49 1/3 innings, he’s let up two home runs, walked nine and struck out 36. He’s posted a 1.257 WHIP so far this year.

In all likelihood, McHugh is on stand-by as the team decides what to do with Atchison. In the event Atchinson is OK, McHugh flies back to Las Vegas. However, if Atchison is put on the DL, McHugh is in house and ready to rock.
McHugh made a few starts for the Mets last season and he didn’t fare very well. I don’t expect him to let up as many home runs as he did, because historically that’s not who he had been in the minors. He’s durable and can start or pitch in relief, mostly as a long man. He isn’t going to save the day, but he’s a good pitcher to have.
