The Mets won two of three against the Astros this past weekend, capped off by a dramatic walk-off home run by Ike Davis yesterday at Citi Field.
The Mets are off today. They open a three-game series in Philadelphia on Tuesday night when Chris Young (3-7, 4.33 ERA) squares off against Vance Worley (6-9, 4.06 ERA) at 7:05 PM.
Also this past weekend, in case you missed it, the Mets added Lucas Duda back to the big-league roster, while sending Jordany Valdespin back to Triple-A Buffalo. Duda started in left field yesterday and was hitless in two at bats.
Also yesterday, Sandy Alderson told fans and media before Sunday’s game that he thinks the team’s payroll will be around $100 million, “if not higher,” in 2013. He said he plans to keep David Wright and R.A. Dickey over the long-term.
Daniel Murphy strained his shoulder and will have an MRI today, though he says he expects to be able to play Tuesday.
ESPN reported that Scott Hairston and Andres Torres have been placed on trade waivers. However, always worth noting, that nearly every player is put on revocable waivers this time of year.
Lastly, Dillon Gee will begin throwing this week, as he continues to recover after having surgery to remove a blood clot in July.
