Watch: Curtis Granderson gets a pie in the face after his walk-off single

Curtis Granderson completed a two-out, ninth-inning rally with a walk-off RBI single to beat the Marlins, 4-3, Friday night at Citi Field.

Granderson was mobbed by teammates after the walk-off hit, which scored Quintanilla from third base.

“I’ve heard that the shaving cream one hurts, so I’m glad that they didn’t do that,” Granderson said after the game.

no matter what, if granderson has a bad season and i hope he doesn't......it's gonna be so tough to dislike him, class act.

bring up lagron---send satin down..shortstop or bust.we should call cubs.castro  for lagron--ey=bag of balls.

ugh i thought this over when mediocre infielder turner was gone

Oh boy. Here comes the attack on the pie-in-the-face thrower. Who cares how old It is? As long as the players are together and focused, they can bond anyway they want to. Throwing Gatoraide over a football coach after a win is even older and a bit tiresome. Who cares as long as it's a win?

very very happy for Grandy to contribute, win, build confidence, and mute the boo-bird idiots.

I don't  find that pie in the face stuff amusing

He needed that more than anyone. Lets get through the summer before we start coining Grandy as Bay. I don't ever remember an exciting moment by Bay except when he slammed into the wall twice making those amazing catches.

Ron Darling looks like he is  getting fatter as years go by....doesn't look good in the booth......he looks fat.

If the Mets keep pace it could win 105 games! What!

Good, the Mets need Granderson so any lift of confidence is great.  Now where's Lagares, god I want this guy back, I can't take much more of Chris Young.

I agree, the whipped cream and shaving cream pies are definitely getting old. As bad as Curtis has been he should have gotten whacked with a pecan pie, or a partially frozen pumpkin pie....maybe that would wake him up once and for all.

That's a professional interview. Get the fans back on your side. Exactly what Beltran should've done when he refused the curtain call. It's only human to wanna say F U to the fans, but it won't work out in the long run. Well done Curtis.

Important to start the season beating the Marlins!

Not a fan of the pie in the face routine.  It's gotten old.

Nice to see two of the most abused players on this blog, Quintanilla and Granderson, enjoy some success. By now many of the bloggers will have forgotten Tejada's fine relay throw that nailed the runner at the plate the day before. Not to mention TC's keeping the club focused and sharp.

@Mike Zarcone  Mike the Mets are doing really well right now stop looking for any way to rip them you can.   Fact is the BIG teams didn't go after Abreau and the Mets have 3000 1st baseman. No reason to gamble like that when the budget is limited.  Plus, if Duda doesn't duda it, we got Campbell, Wilmer, Dykstra available to come in yesterday.  And I still think of Satin was a full-time player (say on the cards) he'd bat 315.

Here's the thing, the blog is for fans to post their opinions, frustrations, criticisms and support for the team. I realize a few of you see yourselves as the "blogeratti", positioned to uphold the quality of content and observation.

If you or your cohorts feel you need to raise the blog quality (comical concept), here is an idea for you:

- if you don't like a post...move on. Your ascerbic comments to fellow posters is synonomous with fans criticism of mets ownership, front office, manager, coaches and players.

- other posters criticisms are as relevant as yours. No one appointed you or your pals blog moderators.

- met fans have a right to express what they think and feel without editorial commentary from anyone. Add to comments, don't critique.

So in summation, post what you like, leave others free to post what they think, quit the attempts at humor (you are bad at it) and have a good day

@hankypanky  the pie in the face was a yankee a-roid thing that justin turner copied over in queens.

you want to copy yankee bs?

@dv92 A few more of those and maybe we can start comparing him to a different free agent we signed for four years, Cliff Floyd.

Cliff Floyd was a nice guy, a very useful player, though he didn't carry the team.  Or else we can just watch and see who Curtis is.

@greekgod We cannot all be Greek gods. Must be all that baseball park food ... so many options these days, especially with Keith having his own concession.

That's fine. His baseball acumen is what counts, and that's what makes him one of the best baseball analysts around.

Its EYJ that's going to ride the pine. The counting stats don't fool me, he's still terrible.

@MartyBarrett17
No matter how poor Curtis Granderson performs, and I suspect he will be about as disappointing as Jason Bay, he's going to be impossible to dislike.

@ken1010  I always loved Floyd, he was one of my favorites. I think that would be a better comparison than Bay lol We can only wait and see.

@Joe Paulson @greekgod  I heard Keith once talk about the life of a baseball player and say they usually went for dinner around 1am (in NY) and if he wasn't doing sports for a living with that lifestyle he would be a moose".

There is so much good food and drink in NY, if you have money hard to stay fit, but ya gotta try. Probably why young players rarely listen to the old ones, because they don't look like athletes they look like old fat guys (that the players will one day be) or like old Bartolo's

oh wait i mean older Bartolo's

@hankypanky  Mets 3 TV announcers one (or 3) or their greatest assets. That said yeah frightening  that Ronnie has ballooned from movie-star looking guy to sumo-guy.

@BringBackDaveTelghe  yeah but EYjr keeps getting on base stealing another, scoring and seems to be in the middle of everything when the Mets score…but yeah "he sucks"

@dv92 @ken1010For some reason I always remember his game at Fenway when he hit 3 shots in 3 straight ABs to right-center over 400' and they were all flyouts. Felt so bad for him. Was the same series as the Omir Santos walkoff off of Paps

@crafalko17 @rico @hankypanky  but sad to see a once world class athlete not give a crap about his health.  being 60 lbs overweight is not enjoying life, and at middle age, it will put you through a lot of pain and troubles, (heart attack diabetes etc)

Darling one of the great faces of the mets now has body by Bartolo

@rico @hankypankyGood to see him enjoying life. As long as the trio keeps announcing as they do, I am fine with however he chooses to live his lifestyle outside of the booth =)
