Sitting Murphy, Duda and d'Arnaud all in the same game is crazy. We know the guys need rest but all three in the same day? nncyel 5pts @metsnana Oy vey. There's nothing wrong with Collins. What's wrong is the abundance of posters on Metsblog who don't have a clue about so many things, but who think that because they don't understand why moves were made that the manager should be fired. d'Arnaud sat because it was a day game after a night game and the Mets, like many other teams, rest their catcher in that situation. Murphy and Duda are lefties and the opposing pitcher was one of the best left-handers in the league. I don't know what Murphy and Duda's stats are against him, but my guess is not good, and Collins wanted to get right-handed hitters in the lineup against him. All pretty standard managerial moves. But the baseball experts on Metsblog consider these moves to be fireable offenses. The moves didn't work. Give the pitcher credit. And move on to the next game. Don't suggest that he should be fired because you didn't understand why the moves were made. Instead, how about trying to learn more about the game. mike23 5pts @metsnana no idea, you would think he would already know that the mets struggle with their every day lineup, than you take out 3 of them and expect to score some runs and win, I think Collins time as a manager has come and gone, time for a change next season. Brandon Hillman 5pts Posey played day game after a night game. If u are truly trying to make the playoffs u got suck it up play your best lineup when play a team ahead of u in standings. They also had a day off thursday. nncyel 5pts @Brandon Hillman Did I say that every team on every night game/day game occasion rests their catcher? No. Morevover, Posey has played 101 of the Giants 111 games. Some of those days off were due to a nagging back problem where he had a number of games off in a row, but they could still be considered "rest" games. So he's had about 10% of the Giants starts off. You homework assignment is to see how many days off d'Arnaud has had and compare the two - probably more than Posey, but that's because he was struggling so much earlier in the season. In any case, there is nothing wrong with giving Recker the occasional start. It's what manager's have to do - keep everyone on the team involved. And, oh, by the way, Recker actually has a higher WAR than d'Arnaud. I wish d'Arnaud would be the player that Posey is - right now he's not.
