He's only 31, give him a break. He's allowed to have a bad season, which I suspect is due to his shoulder. The sky isn't falling.

With our lack of scoring, maybe a lineup change is in order? GRandy isn' what we want leadinoff and David needs a new spot...den'd( EY Jr), d'arnauld, Murph, Duda, Wright, Grandy, Legares, Flores. vice lefies, have Legares and Campbell switch spots and move Duda to 6th, and try it for 2 weeks, anything to shake this funk!

Can Wright just go back to producing 300 avg 20+ homers 100 RBI in a season for the remaining of his contract?

Hardball times had an article saying WAR is now going for $6m or $7m per year on the free agent market.  So to earn his contract, David has to average about 3 or 4 WAR per year over the life of it.  He can do that.

Of course its his shoulder. Move on. Its just as annoying as the tommy john talk. Pitchers in the last 10 years have to trow over 92 to even get drafted. In 1924 they threw 65-70 tops. The arm cant take the full effort mid 90's pressure everyday. Its not hard to figure out

It's pretty simple...he is a very good ballplayer who will excel with a decent team around him.  So, he's a good ballplayer that becomes great with the right pieces.  He cannot carry a team on his own like only a few guys can in the league.  The team is not terrible because HE isn't producing...the team is terrible because there isn't any major league talent in regard to position players.  David isn't producing because he has NOBODY around him at all.  There are only a handful of fans that are still blindly rooting for this organization.

Whereas opinions expressed without any numbers or other evidence to support them make such an enormous contribution to rational discussion.

@Macacawitz  In Wright's case..this is spot on. I wonder what Wright's WAR is from the 7th inning on...they might have to change the name to DESERTION.

Sabermetrics =\= evidence

Sabermetrics = evidence if it's good, careful sabermetrics.  Disqualifying all sabermetrics as not constituting evidence is essentially the same as disqualifying all statistics as non-evidence.  Good sabermetrics is primarily about applying raw baseball statistics carefully so they serve as good evidence rather than poor or misleading evidence.
