Just what Mackey needed. Some moron dredging his nightmare back up, for a whole new generation -- just to have fun with him once again.

Leave the poor man be, fer crissakes!! He endured enough when he was playing!

Note to Fred Wilpon:

I was curious about Oh…Yeah! but will not be watching it at all now.

It's just tacky crap.

I don't get it -- clearly the guy had a psychological problem, but this film is making fun of him?? It's basically filled with sound bites of people laughing at the poor guy's strugges.

Shilling for what may be the worst show on TV.

Where was Danny Bonadoochie, Tonya Harding and Todd Bridges???  Had all the class of a "True-TV" production....

Just like Rube Baker. Maybe he should have read the dirty magazines. :)

How about you show the yips instead of talking about it?

That was like a VH1 special, with the lineup of nobodies commenting.....Cohen excluded, of course.

Couldn't throw but he could hit ...

Funny thing is that Mackey was a better hitting catcher than anything that we have now!  Had the yips. but the dude could hit.....

why was there no...you know...ACTUAL footage of him struggling with his throws.  they showed one clip of him tap-tap-tapping and then he made a fine throw.  pretty weak production.  cant believe gary cohen was even involved in something this amateur-ish

Hackin' Mackey Sasser!

He would never fit in with this offensive philosophy.

After a strike out with no runners on, he would sometimes wing the ball right past third and on down the line. Whenever we sat behind home we'd watch for it and start a "MACK-EEEEE" chant. Sometimes he'd give a little backward wave with the glove or flip us off.

Good times.

Sandy Alderson and Fairy Collins have the yips, too.

So what's up with Michael Conforto? Heard he had agreed to terms awhile back, but haven't heard anything since. anxious to see him start his career.

Wasn't his issue throwing to the mound? He had a decent throw to second base didn't he?

Notice that there's not one player, manager, or coach in the clip (not even Ron Darling, who occasionally speaks of Sasser on the air).  To get a bunch of non-baseball pseudo-celebrities (I exclude Gary Cohen) to go on camera and say, in effect, "Mackey Sasser was so pathetic" ... way to go, SNY.  Real brave, real creative.  I'm sure Mackey Sasser appreciates the plug.

@SNYtv a 25th anniversary retrospect on the yips? Thats not right. It is awesome, though. I felt so bad for him when I was a kid.

Aww I used to love mackey sasser! Lol yea he was a strange guy a sub par catcher but as a hitter he was a definite replacement for dykstra who would also swing at everything and most of the time turn that into production. He was kind of like the 90s Murphy.

@Father Dooley Are you really a priest?  Did you just really post this comment?  You should go to confession.
