Vic Black has stranded 15-straight inherited baserunners

Mets LHP Vic Black entered the game the bases loaded and no outs and quickly got three fly balls to escape the inning and preserve a four-run lead Saturday night against the Cubs.

He has stranded 15-straight inherited baserunners, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

“The job he’s done to come in with men on base is truly amazing,” Terry Collins said after the game. “He has not flinched. His command, it’s 10 times better when there’s guys on. I don’t know if he’s so focused that he’s got to get outs, but he’s pitched brilliantly.”

Speaking of Black, here’s a preview of SNY.TV’s Riding Shotgun with Vic Black, which will post later this week on MetsBlog…

Blacks performance last night with the bases loaded and no outs was awesome.  Saved the game.

English is not my first language, but really? A comma after baserunners?

Wow when did he learn to throw lefty? I thought besides Edgin and Eveland and Niese the only other kind of LHP on the roster is deGrom (long haired pitcher)

At times, he can be stressful, and a Flores misplay helped burn him recently, but thanks Sandy for getting him.  How about getting something useful again in the next few weeks?  I can think of more than one player that has potential for waiver wire action.

That's ridiculous. Black is the perfect man to bring in with runners on base. Familia and Mejia are the perfect 8th and 9th inning guys.

I'd swap him with Mejia! Make Mejia the seveth inning guy!
