Vic Black pitched a perfect 12th inning to get his first win for the Mets.
“Of course it’s always exciting to get your first win,” Black said, according to ESPN New York. “The first of many hopefully.”
The Mets acquired Black from Pittsburgh in the deal that sent Marlon Byrd and John Buck to the Pirates.
In nine relief appearances for the Mets, Black has a 3.68 ERA.
Black, 25, was 5-3 with 17 saves, 63 strikeouts and a 2.51 ERA in 53 games with Triple-A Indianapolis this season before being traded to the Mets. He was the 16th best prospect in the Pirates minor league system, according to MLB.com.
“His fastball can be plus, into the mid-90s with sink, and he combines it with a hard slider that could be a Major League average pitch,” according to Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com.
